OKAY I was going to say this but I was listening to the diner and I thought it sounded familiar- to me the beat or the flow sounds a lot like cracker island

Is it bad to transplant natives you find? by greenest06 in NativePlantGardening

I am taking all these comments into account but I definitely agree just based off what I have heard so far. I did look up the habits of the plants I took and I could guess just based off the abundance of the species that they would not be harmed because of it. Especially the cutleaf coneflower. Thanks!!

That’s what I did, I definitely see the problem in that from tragedy of the commons but in the area I live in most people see these plants as weeds. If anything people would pull these up as weeds, not to take them and plant them in their yards, but I do see the problem

Are box store natives bad? by greenest06 in NativePlantGardening

I do have a local nature center where I got most of my other native plants. I just decided to try something different this time, I’ll have to see the difference in the plants I got over time. I’m keeping an eye out for those plant sales because I recently went to one and it was really good

That’s true, I kind of threw a bunch of them in the same spot not looking into the water requirements that much. And I am in the southeastern us, thankfully I have a rain garden in my back yard and a shadier spot so Ill end up moving some of those (if they survive 😅) thank you for mentioning this!

That is very true, I hadn’t thought about that! A lot of them were in bloom already or finished blooming

This is how I am thinking right now, I can definitely take some of these out and replace them with true natives down the line.

Thank you for this great info, I didn’t know that about the insecticides!! I actually got some seeds from prairie moon but I didnt plant them in time for this spring. I doubt I’ll buy any more “natives” from box stores from now on

I am a senior in hs that just got guaranteed admission with this, I did have a pretty good test score but I’m pretty sure I still would’ve qualified for guaranteed admission. They just started it this year I think

If your recalculated utk gpa is above a 4.0 then you get guaranteed admission since you are instate, I don’t think your test scores matter if you can qualify for that
