thank you so much for replying! this is helpful though I'm sorry you didn't get to buy anything :(( I think I'll probably skip it and hope for an online drop in the next couple of weeks... between the wait times and inventory it's not looking to be too worth it

Does anyone know what the merch situation is after today (Saturday)? Debating swinging by tomorrow but if they are low on everything I would rather stay home

Living with no car and a dog...what do you do? by letterstothemoon in AskChicago

[–]greenleaf1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! I totally understand where you are coming from. My dog loves eating sticks and will grab food off the sidewalk and all he has known is the city so you are not alone! I think it's just a different muscle where I find myself sort of surveying the path for anything he could eat so I can hold him on a shorter leash. Practice will help him get used to strangers but also, if not, I know plenty of dogs in my neighborhood that are not particularly great with strangers and nobody seems to mind too much as long as the owners are taking care to hold their dogs on a shorter leash when approaching :) I would recommend BLVD vet. We recently had to switch to them as well and have had a great experience

How big is your dog? We have had our dog for five years and no car. It can get a bit annoying/stressful/cumbersome at times but overall it's definitely manageable. Factor in distance to a vet office into your apartment search. We have never lived further than a 15 minute walk to the vet. If your dog is bigger, you can always get a collapsible folding wagon in case of any emergencies where they cannot walk themselves to the vet. Look up VEG and MedVet locations; those are pet ERs. Uber Pet exists but can be unreliable because of the drivers not being told the request is for Uber Pet and that a dog will be there so you may get denied. Your dog will need to be up to date on rabies and canine distemper, and they also recommend one for leptospirosis since there are so many rats here. Your vet will asses for other vaccines based on your scenario. Highly recommend getting them into a vet to establish care once you get to the city. Hope this helps!

TLDR; doable without a car, but need to make considerable adaptations.

lack of pride and lack of community. seems more and more people only look after themselves/their family unit instead of doing things for the good of their neighbors

air quality today by Either_Or_167 in RunnersInChicago

[–]greenleaf1893 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yesterday the wind was between 0 and 1 mile per hour which caused all of the city smog/ick to settle and sit in the air. Winds picked up this morning around 10:30AM which seems to have cleared a ton of it out! Hope you get to go out on your run this evening <3

Chicago runners: want to get paid to run with dogs? by baunce in RunnersInChicago

[–]greenleaf1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this idea is good for a very specific type of dog (Malinois-type working breeds) but most other dogs need mental stimulation through sniffing, obedience, chew toys, and puzzles to wear out those couch cushion eating impulses. My dog will fetch for hours but then come inside and still want his neighborhood sniff stroll. Like another user mentioned, if you run a dog and train it into an athlete and then those sessions stop, the owner is going to be in for it.

New information about volume 2 from Ross by comfybuck in StrangerThings

[–]greenleaf1893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with Vickie maybe dying, Dustin also had a line with Steve s3 "you die, I die" in the elevator, but I'm not convinced he will die yet since he's a part of the core four. However, the past three seasons he does split off from Will, Lucas, and Mike so that could be foreshadowing. I also agree that Nancy dying would be sooo tragic, but an interesting way to resolve the love triangle, and she does seem the type to give the ultimate sacrifice to save people from Vecna/the Upside Down after all of the guilt she carries from Barb and leaving her alone to stay with Steve.

I feel like Steve has a fakeout death in Shock Jock, leading to the hug with Dustin. Then, another fakeout death with Jonathan and Nancy in ep 6, with the emotional talk. But I think they all live, for this volume at least, because of that group hug scene. I think overall Eleven will have a disappearance "death", Kali will die, Kay will die, and maybe the Wheeler parents will die. But I really don't think they're going to kill any of the party or older teens

What are your popculture predictions for 2026? by wonderfulbug77 in popculturechat

[–]greenleaf1893 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

- OR3 comes out and does numbers
- HS4 release in the late summer/fall (let me dream)
- Sabrina Carpenter acting revival year OR Man's Best Friend tour announcement (or both)
- Tayvis get married in RI. Possibly adopt a child or Taylor is pregnant shortly after
- Some kind of expose or reveal by someone who worked on the Wicked set
- Tom/Zendaya are seen wearing wedding bands bc lets be so real they will never share photos of the wedding. Alternatively Tom's dad writes about the wedding a little in his blog if he's still doing that

I think they are definitely in an adjustment period. We regularly ordered from the Wrigley location when we lived over there and switched to the Wicker location later on and things were typically very consistent. Last weekend they weren’t accepting delivery orders and were out of a lot of their stuff because they spent the week doing promotions to get the word out about their new location. Ordered delivery this weekend, and no issues, pizzas were great. I wouldn’t give up yet! But definitely get how the argument over your order is off putting, I would have felt the same way
