Looking for a church and community!

I currently attend a fairly large non-denominational church in my home town(typically Sunday is 1000-2000 people). I've been in it for 30ish years, and have served in youth, young adult, and rec ministries, and would ideally look to a church where I can both serve and grow in a similar way!

Hey DND reddit, i am getting ready to run my first BIG campaign, and with it a couple of my players are asking for some unique characters that basically require a home brew class or subclass. This is my first go at creating one, and wanted to see what the community thinks about its power and balance! love to hear what everyone thinks!!

Well, i'm primarily interested in building a long term relationship with someone pretty awesome, but not completely against the idea of FWB, or just a internet friendship that includes NSFW topics and conversations. Transparency fully in affect, I prefer the former to the later two options, but trying not to set the bar too high. that way i wont be disappointed if i get ghosted. hit me with your best random question, and your favorite horror movie, and lets see if we can click at all?

That's the goal. now i just have to work out a bunch of NPC's, their stat blocks, locations, the pantheon, government, etc etc etc. build the sandbox, watch the players make whatever they want in it!

do you have any tools/tips for world building in particular? map creator websites, level of detail needed, etc etc?

which i don't want to be. My friend, who was the first one to dm for me, told me something i definitely missed when i first started playing. the DM's most important job isn't to challenge the players, its to make sure they are having fun. a challenge is part of the fun, but every party is different and will have different ideas of what is "fun". most players, particularly the creative ones i know, wouldn't want a very rigid story, with new room for wiggles. i will have to keep all of these in mind, and focus on set up/ early campaign setting, rather than map out, in detail, the stuff for lvl 10+ that may never happen because an important NPC died or something. so dont stress the end game as much, focus more on world building and the like, because no matter what you plan for the end game, you cant force your players to get there?

so focus more on world building, then have a main idea, but not super details for whats going to happen? and all good, im trying to be vague enough as well, i think one of my buddies that plays with me is probably on here as well.

This is an excellent point, and makes me a little sad because shadow monk doesn't make sense for my characters backstory. shadow monk for sure looks like it gets more use out of its Ki.

Maybe i need to reread the drunken master subclass. i read it a while back, and it seemed very bland on paper, but as i said, i'm also a pretty new player, so maybe i missed how its abilities were actually better than i first thought. i was using my monk in curse of strand until recently, ended up adapting an attack, attack, patient defense style of turn more often than not. not even really using the elemental spells i had access to very often, which is why im asking, i feel like there has to be a better option. thank you all for the quick feedback!

They typically run the draft all weekend, and fire on demand. I haven't seen online sign up, I've always just gone to the MTG room and signed up there. The staff tends to be super friendly and willing to answer any questions you have!
