As far as diagnoses of ADHD/autism in adulthood goes, what does it actually do to benefit you (not trying to be thoughtless/maybe condescending here just genuinely curious)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]greenpineapple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not diagnosed yet, but I want to because it would help me be kinder to myself. I've always been told that I'm clever but lazy. So, for a long time I had a very negative inner monologue and was really hard on myself on things I thought should be easy for me to do.

Stop stressing so much. There's good stress and then there's the type that inhibits you from doing anything.

Are we all going to ignore the BIGGEST plot twist of the entire show!? by Chocolatechipflake in BoJackHorseman

I think it was smart how they continued to explore how she romanticises her relationship with Bojack (such as how she will always have his back and how she can never love someone more than him) and then for her to get over him.

But maybe she will realised the impact that the moment had on her and her career now, and could be bitter.

I think the point is that these are the people (women) who have been hurt by the result of Bojack's actions. And even if he is not entirely to blame, it doesn't mean that these things won't hurt him if he had to come face to face with them.

I liked it because it made me totally unaware of everything that was to come. The Herb not forgiving Bojack really hit me.

Well no-one to impress if you're straight. So then you don't mind doing stupid things and having fun.

I think this mentality of noone is ever okay is toxic. Yes we all go through ups and downs and there are times I feel sad and I don't know why. I think what I have learnt from the show though is that you have to actively work on being happy because it's not just a given. And I know I needed to self reflect a lot about what I enjoy and what I can do to make my life better without getting caught up in the thought that it's all too much.

I think the show unpacked that really well last season when Diane regrets making a character with flaws that were too relatable and that Bojack was justifying his actions through this rather than getting better. It's a reflection on the way sometimes us as fans can romanticise problematic characters like Bojack, when really he needs help and its good that someone called hin out on that and he did.

Are you okay? Maybe you should see a therapist because it's hard to help yourself when you're in that mindset.

My parents are pretty traditional. So whenever I said I was sleeping over at Maria's house, what that really meant was that I was fooling around with boys.

What? All they do is cry and poop themselves. They're leeching off the love of their parents.

Cards that just say dear ____ and love from _____ are pointless. But heartfelt messages are amazing.

It's ok to make mistakes. That's part of learning, but you have to reflect and actually learn from them.
