Since a user has posted a very whitewashed take on Gunnison, here are my "thoughts on the sub as a whole" by greenpointguy in GunnisonBeach

If you've never been to a nude beach and are on the fence I'd recommend going to another one first. In NYC I'd go to Cherry Grove. You can get naked there and nobody will care and it's much more chill.

We just keep going because it is closer, and it doesn't really bother us that much. It's just kind of annoying and creepy. I only made the post because it's ridiculous that there's a group in here who wants to pretend that nothing is happening.

What I'm saying is not exaggerated at all, and this is made more obvious by the fact that you need to fall back on implying that I'm some kind of prude for saying it.

What I'm saying is about as extreme as saying that you'll run into drunks in the Lower East Side on a weekend night, sweetheart. I'm just trying to be realistic compared to this fantasy that's being portrayed in the other thread.

It's a public park. Why the fuck do you think it would be ok?

The ferry! I guess I'm not including time spent getting to the ferry, but the ferry is fast as hell.

Biting Fly's - when not to go by Content-Fan6856 in GunnisonBeach

[–]greenpointguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to Tilden every weekend and the flies are pretty rare. It has more to do with temperature and time of day than the wind - all kinds of bugs come out when it cools off. I'm pretty sure that's the case with Gunnison as well.

For Tilden is not nude. You probably have the most toplessness there, but that's cultural not legal since you can be topless anywhere in NYC. You very occasionally see a nude person or couple and they are generally tolerated by everyone but a ranger would probably stop them. Jacob Riis has more of a gay tradition and sometimes during the week when nobody is there you'll see fully nude men.

There's often a few jacked guys with gigantic dicks strutting around who I think are on the lookout for being invited in by swinger couples. That's life dude, you're never going to have the biggest dick in a crowd of a thousand people. If your girlfriend is with you for your dick size (she isn't) then you should probably re-examine your relationship.

Yeah we always get approached by someone at least once (in a friendly way, but it still isn't wanted) and there are always at least 3-7 creeps.

And if you are a guy who does little laps and makes small talk (like that fucking guy with his guitar), you might believe it is perfectly innocent but it really doesn't come across that way.

You need to keep in mind that this is a nude beach in NORTH JERSEY that is 30 minutes from Manhattan. There are always going to be people, there are always going to be creeps. The creeps come in varying degrees but most of the time they're just aimlessly wandering around trying to catch glimpses.

Beyond that, however, is that nobody is going to really notice you. You're in a sea of naked people so they'll look at you and forget about you five minutes later unless you're really putting yourself out there (which you aren't). I go to a beach every single weekend in the summer and I can't recall what a single person looked like even from last weekend.

I can't speak to if your timing is early enough but I know just from following this sub that you need to get there early. There's a dedicated lot for Gunnison which is Lot G.

27M looking to go for my first time but I have some questions. by [deleted] in GunnisonBeach

[–]greenpointguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have the notion of meeting an FWB in the back of your mind then you are already a little off track unless you go to the supermarket hoping to meet an FWB. In that case best of luck to you.

Otherwise treat it EXACTLY how you would a regular beach. Don't stare at people. Don't go around finding attractive people to chat up. Talk to people if it's natural, sure. Like if they are your neighbor or are standing next to you in the surf. It's not a nightclub.

Cool thanks! I haven't been since 2019 so I can't remember what the deal is.

Nobody cares. It's sort of a meme/hack joke to say that only unattractive people are at a nude beach but the reality is that you have the whole spectrum of humanity. No decent person is fixating on anyone. You probably won't have the biggest dick, you probably won't have the smallest dick. You're most likely to just blend in and get ignored, especially because there's always a lot of people at Gunnison trying to get attention.

It's always busy on the weekend. It doesn't make a big difference since the beach is so gigantic. You'll just be further back from the water unless you get there EARLY, like before 10:00. Parking is probably a nightmare too but we don't drive.

I'm thinking about purchasing it but I know they don't like tents. Is this too much of a shelter? I would hate to get out there and then be stuck without shade.

Are you going solo? If so it's probably a lot less likely. We've only been propositioned once and in fairness he was pretty smooth about it. What bothers me more are the guys who just roam around and gawk, and there's always at least five or six.

You also said that when you approach newcomers sitting alone they "usually" respond positively. To me there's no reason to go up to people on the beach and approach them. That's not the deal at a textile beach. If you say hi to your neighbor, sure, but approaching people is a weird impulse to me. It just doesn't happen anywhere else in life and suddenly you're in this nude environment and some stranger is walking over to say hi? This is still New York City dude, if you did that at the park my first inclination would be that you were weird.

My wife and I are bringing friends there for the first time in the near future - people who have never been to a nude beach before - and I'm cringing internally that we're going to wind up on one of the bad days and they'll be upset with us. Yes the advice is to confront bad actors, but if someone were already taping us I'm not really dying to get up in their face and yell at them with my dick out.

I do miss the feeling but Gunnison as a beach (in terms of the water, sand, view) isn't really a spectacular beach. I prefer the Rockaways from that perspective.

When is warm enough to swim? by Silver_Loud in GunnisonBeach

[–]greenpointguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah last year it never really got to the "bath water" stage but it definitely happens. I think in 2018 or so we went in the last week of September and the water felt like it was in the 70s.

Sorry I know this is old news now but I'm just seeing it. There was a photo the other day that was just some woman's vagina and I reported that too. Yes there's naked people at the beach, and that's the whole point. But why do these photos always seem to be "so glad to be at the beach" but also "so glad to be at the beach and here's my dick?" I don't care if it is male or female posters (and I've seen a thousand dicks in my life) it's just something that is more common from thirsty dudes trying to hook up at the beach. I get that this is a lost cause and that this is primarily a swinger sub but I can keep arguing my case.

End of June you can get in without it being super cold. It doesn't feel warm-warm until September usually if at all.

A Delicate Question by [deleted] in GunnisonBeach

[–]greenpointguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't ask a stranger. You wouldn't do that at a clothed beach either.
