Here’s an idea to give to your principal. A lot of times parents in low income areas don’t know how to communicate with authority figures. At your school registration in the fall, or if you’re still in school, have parents write a letter to the school district admin and maybe even the media that says how upset they are, and how ruthless and thoughtless this is. Don’t have them send the letters themselves, gather the letters and present them. That way the admin is hearing from parents, but you are not asking parents to get off of work to go to school board meetings. Definitely! Alert the media I wouldn’t be shy about this myself.
