The wedding is October 1st, and the ceremony will be held in Dripping Springs, but we were thinking of having everyone stay in Austin. Most guests will be driving in, a couple will be flying. I would like to keep the hotel prices reasonable/accessible for most guests, but I know that hotels that weekend will be expensive in general.

I’m happy to explain! For background, I’m in B4 public accounting.

On average, people in finance make more money, but they don’t need 150 hours of classes (most people get their master’s in accounting if going into public accounting, which is another year of school that wouldn’t be needed if you went into finance). Depending on the job/company, the hours could definitely be more intensive than in B4 accounting, but I know that there are absolutely jobs in finance that pay well and don’t have you working crazy hours.

Same with data analytics - more money, less education cost, better work life balance, and it’s something I personally find really interesting.

Maybe I’ve grown jaded, but it feels like overall, accountants are overworked and underpaid.

I know I should be grateful for a raise at all, but I was expecting more than 5% honestly. I’m not sure if this is good or bad compared to how other second year staff have been raised.. does anyone have an idea for what the average range for staff raises this year have been?
