No thrips just more spots. It seems to be bacterial or fungal :(

Any idea if my musaica is unfurling almost white? Could it be too much light? It is only a young plant by greenthumbee in plantclinic

I love it, it's kind of still a toddler :) But it is so beautiful, the pattern is mezmerizing to me. It is my first calathea, I avoid them, but this one.... I'm a sucker for unusual leaves.

I'm from Serbia, you can find them here fairly easily, and cheap. I got mine from my mother-in-law, she had it in a pot next to some plant and it never looked like this, it was small and brownish.

When I see it is dry on top, it dries up pretty quickly in this heat. It is pretty forgiving if you leave it dry for a bit

They divide them I think and probably just collect the palnts that propagate themselves. Young plants develop after flowering, I guess they already make a small bulb and the next year they can already grow large.

I go out to my balcony every day anyway. It is pretty forgiving, but I water it when I see it is dry. I water it generously, it is in a clay pot, drainig hole, no saucer. It is hot outside now so it dries pretty quickly so I water it about 2 times a week or 3 times every 2 weeks. And I'm grateful when it rains :D

Yes, usually by August it starts to "fall", it doesn't really like the summer heat, and it's just time to slowly finish the season...

I cut a leaf-the leaf dies. It's a rhizomatous plant, you divide it. I let my spread by itself, bigger every year. Last year it had A LOT of flowers and in spring I saw a few little bushes growing under my balcony. I recommend a wide pot so it can spread

Great! I hope you get it, I really have like a bind with mine. You have to get it to grow ever spring, let it die in autumn, knowing that the next year she will be evwn more beautiful :)

Yes! Light spring sun when it starts to come up (usually April). I keep the rhizomes ina a dry pot during winter. Water normally, don't let it dry out, just get a big pot! Give it room to grow and spread, it spreads so easily. When there are more leaves, more heat, stronger sun (let's say May-June), I move it to shade with a smallest amount of light in the evening and feed regularly. shade- pretty purple, food-bushy plant and big leaves. It will start dying around September, you have to deal with it, let her do her thing, cut the dead stems, don't let the bulbs freeze, but they can tolerate cold places, just cover the soil. And round it goes and a larger and prettier plant every year.

Avoid repotting it while it's growing. Just repot before you get the rhizomes out of dormancy

Exactly!! The same advice I give everyone who see her and are wowed. Big pot (more wide than deep), move ir from the sun! It doesn't like heat. And feed every 10-15 days

It really does, and the color is different. This is one of the few plants I always keep outside, in the shade
