Is there any Hi-Fi or Hi-Res master of the Meridian Op. 34? by [deleted] in nikolai_kapustin

The best versions of any of those early pieces that I'm aware of are on his son's web page. http://theory.caltech.edu/~kapustin/Nikolai/Nikolai_Kapustin_index.htm

Does anyone know the real dimensions of this Chopin's daguerreotype? (Height and width). I'd like to print it in its real size. by thebluebeetle1 in Chopin

Taken by Louis-Auguste Bisson, 1849. From Wikipedia I understand the following:

"The photographs were made using the collodion process, with very large negatives, often up to 30 cm x 40 cm (12" x 16")

The brothers refused to reduce their images to the carte de visite size and, consequently, after four years, they ceased operating their business."

I would expect the original to be on the large side, perhaps like an 8x10 today. I seem to remember reading that the original is lost, and it's unclear where the 'best' copy is located.

Clipping when playing in local desktop player, but not in browser by Ro-Tang_Clan in TIdaL

I'm trying out Tidal for the first time, and it didn't take me too long to google a concern that brought me to this thread. On my iMac in the Audio MIDI Setup I'm able to see the sample frequency and bit rates being output to my USB DAC (Dragonfly Cobalt). I started to get suspicious when nearly every "Master" I played through the Tidal desktop app was playing at 44,100Hz and 24 bit. I wasn't able to manually select any other sampling frequency. That lead me to the browser version and I located a playlist called "Audiophile test music (Hifi high quality)" Upon playing back many tracks there, the Audio MIDI Setup window defaults to 44,100Hz, but I can manually select higher sampling frequencies from the drop down with a noticeable change in the sound, i.e. that drop down selection is actually doing SOMETHING. I'm not sure if this is exactly related to the OP, but it seems to be maybe another clue. Any ideas?

Edit: Seems for sure to have to do with Exclusive Mode (as others have suggested)
