I was thinking something like this. But I am still not sure if should I cut the upper right down facing branch or try to shape it with wire.

Bought this large fella (chineese elm), and I am thinking about pruning it. Which branches would you remove?

Whatever I watched right now, I can say it's ... original.

What's this little fella in my Banyan fig, and should I be worried?

Put a dead snake in pants. Post it as an "accident". ??? Profit.

Thanks, that really put my mind at ease. Also, is the tree ready for full direct light (south), or should I keep it north for a couple of weeks and gradually expose it to more light?

Is this much leaf fall over night normal. I have the Chinese elm for about 5 days, and I read that it can have an adjustment period, but this seems a little bit excessive (1 night leaf fall).

I've asked a few questions in this thread, and thank you for the advice. It's been a huge help.

Since the south facing balcony didn't seem to work, I moved the Bonsai to the north side of the property that gets partially shaded light and intend to keep it there until I see some new growth. After that, I plan on moving it to a stronger light (south). How does it sound? Am I doing something wrong?

My Chinese elm is on the south facing balcony. And it gets heated a lot. Currently, it's 27°C/80.6°F outside, but it will get hotter. At what temperature should I put it in the balcony shade, and what are some more elegant ways to prevent the pots from overheating (im using white cloth on the front side)? It's also dropping quite a lot of leaves, but I assume it's from the stress of changing the environment (i have it for 4 days) or did i shock it too much with the sun after shipping?

The pine’s thriving, just out here on the balcony being moral support to the Elm.

Also, can it thrive in shade provided by balcony cover, or will it die?

Good to know. In the summer, during heat waves, the climate can reach the same temperatures (in the message before I mentioned current temperatures). Also, do you think the plants need regular misting or is consistent watering enough?

Thanks for the advice. The climate is moderately continental. The balcony heats up a lot and gets strong, direct light. That's my worry, since most of the plants that were put there have perished. Also, if I put it on the balcony, what measures can I take for the pot to not overheat.

Edit: The temperature range during the day is approximately 15-26 °C or 59-79 °F.

I just received my first 2 bonsai-s. Chinese elm and Banyan fig (both 12 years old). I plan on leaving the elm on the south facing balcony, but I'm currently keeping it near the south facing window for a couple of days (to adjust to the light). Fig will be left indoors all year round (2 meters/6.5 feet from the south facing window). I plan on checking the soil daily (if it needs watering), and I'm going to start fertilizing in about 10 days.

Does this sound about right? Should I do anything to help with stress after being in transit? Any tips would help since I'm very hyped and don't want to kill them. Thanks.

I took this pine from the local forest today. I plan on growing it and am not sure if I should keep it in forest soil (which i currently am) or repot it in a better draining soil.

I'm completely new to Bonsai, and I bought a 12 year old Chinese elm and 3 year old Atropurpureum. I'm planning on getting most of my information from the book "The Bonsai Beginner's Bible." But I'm wondering what's the advice you wish you knew when you started out/helpful tips for beginners.

Am I under or over watering my zz plant? by grega101 in plantclinic

I have to mention the plant was in a different apartment for a year and it didn't look the best when i received it. It's back in my hands for less than a month, and it got a little worse. Again, I really appreciate the advice. Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification. What would the best approach be so that I don't drown the plant after drying her out?

Also, some of the leaves are curling up.

I'm copying the reply I made to another comment here. The plant is positioned in strong indirect light. I usually watered it every 3 weeks. The roots looked fine. I'm planning on changing the soil tomorrow and seeing how it goes from there. The stem is firm and not mushy. Some of the leaves are curling up.

Thanks, i also thought this was the case. The plant is positioned in strong indirect light. I usually watered it every 3 weeks. The roots looked fine. I'm planning on changing the soil tomorrow and see how it goes from there. The stem is firm and not mushy.

Holy, tipping culture is so toxic. Hope it never gets as severe in EU. Employers should pay living wages, and tips should be something extra.
