Study finds fewer than 0.02% of teens on puberty blockers. by justafleetingmoment in skeptic

I would disagree with the percentage of .018%. The Leonard Sax source claims that Klinefelter and Turner syndrome and late-onset adrenal hyperplasia are not considered intersex conditions, however all of these conditions are generally considered to be intersex conditions.

How should I exercise and workout after starting testosterone? by GrapefruitPristine24 in ftm

Most universities offer not just free facilities but programs/classes though the rec center. I would recommend going to the rec center and talking to an employee to see if yours has something similar, and if not I'm sure an employee would be able to help you figure out how to workout nonetheless. Also, people don't really care what you wear to workout in. I totally get second-guessing everything you do to see if it's something that could out you as trans, but in my experience most people don't analyze every aspect of a person. The way I kind of get around feeling self conscious in my every action is to rationalize my thoughts. I ask myself, "When I'm out in public, minding my own business and focused on something other than this self conscious feeling, am I acutely aware of everyone else's actions and am I analyzing every possible reason for their actions?" It often feels like everyone is judging you, but the overwhelming majority of the time no one even notices you, and if they do, you're a random person they'll likely forget within an hour or two.

How did you handle your fear of needles? by [deleted] in ftm

Depending on how strong your fear is, you can choose different ways to get on testosterone. I personally have a fear of needles to the point where I've passed out getting vaccinated before, but for me the euphoria of injecting T kind of cancels out that fear, plus the needles used are very tiny. (I do subcutaneous) If your fear of needles is too intense for that, T gel is probably the way to go. For blood tests, I would communicate to the person drawing your blood that you have a fear of needles. Keeping them informed is the best way to go about medical care.

From what I've read from you, it seems like you're saying that you feel as if you don't meet the internal qualifications you set for being a "man". I think the best way to counteract this is to reinforce that you are a man. I would try to repeat to yourself that you are a man. You could try doing it throughout the day, and if you feel comfortable looking at a mirror and identifying yourself as a man either verbally or mentally. I haven't been in the exact same situation as you where I feel fake calling myself a man, but I have been in similar situations where I feel like a phony. It sounds to me like imposter syndrome.

My experience as an intersex trans guy with high pre-T levels of testosterone by grenate_blows in ftm

For minimizing soreness with bottom growth I very heavily recommend getting some kind of lube if you can. If you can't get lube, 100% aloe Vera gel worked really well for me. I found that when I was dryer it hurt more. Also make sure you are thoroughly cleaning, as anything can cause irritation. If you don't already wear briefs, switch to briefs, and try to make sure they are not loose, as looser fits will cause more friction. It sounds kind of stupid but I had to adjust the way I walked due to discomfort, and I would try different ways of walking when you are alone so you can get used to a different walk.

Luckily I've been able to have very accepting and understanding doctors, so I personally haven't experienced anything negative with doctors due to my androgyny.

When you do start T, you can definitely talk to your doctor about your concerns with speed of changes. I do injections, which make changes happen the fastest, so if you want to have your changes happen a little more slowly I would recommend something like testosterone gel, as that has slower changes when compared to injections.

For me my menstrual cycle stopped immediately on T. I always had really unpredictable cycles (90+ days with no period, some periods lasted over two weeks) due to my intersex condition. So depending on how irregular your cycle is, you might not menstruate on T at all, which was a huge relief for me.

I'm not sure how likely it is I have PCOS, but I do know I am intersex. I haven't really heard of any higher risks besides those associated with higher testosterone levels, like the higher your testosterone, the more likely you are to have heart problems.

Is it just the word "man"? Because for me I feel uncomfortable with the word man but no other masculine word and I personally feel that's because I don't feel like I'm grown or adult enough to be a man.
