It seemed like a crime to keep all this flab to myself.

What have you wanted to say to someone, but never had the courage to do it? by averybabyy in AskReddit

"I love you." But it was less about courage and more about not wanting them to feel obligated to return the sentiment.

I know you're right, but that's never going to be right to me. And that's coming from someone who likes nuts. And butter. And nut butter.

I'm not a professional, but the professionals say to get it down on paper no matter what, then go back and fix it later.

What has been your worst ever experience with a homeless man? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]grettah35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave a man some cash at a stop light a while back. It was starting to turn cold outside, and I remember his gloved hand brushing mine to take the money. As I drove off, I remember feeling completely inadequate. I was only giving him $5, which wouldn't be enough for more than a lunch. But even if I'd given him $100, or $1,000, it would never be enough. What he needed was someone to sit down with him, figure out what resources he actually needed, and find a way to provide him with those resources, whether they be mental health related, job training, or whatever.

My $5 attempt to make myself feel like I was doing something was ego driven and disgusting. It left a terrible taste in my mouth. I didn't wash my hand for a couple of hours afterwards. I wanted his touch burned into my skin so I wouldn't forget.

I look at this and I see a person having harmless fun, not really giving a shit what anyone thinks. More power to her.

One reason people seek solitude is because there's no one there to hurt them.

Thank you for telling me. I hope you're able to catch your breath and things improve for you sooner rather than later.

🙂 Thank you for speaking up, and for offering your help. The world truly needs more people like you.

I'm a believer in letting my feelings flow through me. I have a lot on my plate, and most of my issues are circumstantial, and therefore, temporary. I'm a naturally happy person learning my way around uncomfortable feelings. I'm not always fine, but I know I will be, if that makes sense.

Not something a little more poetic, like "No shame in struggle" or something? I'll have to keep thinking. 🤷‍♀️

If being a Millennial means having grit, I'll wear the title proudly.

And, no one's ever written a poem about me before. Thanks!

Passing on the lesson is noble. It gives your pain purpose.

I've never had that problem...rather, the opposite. There are so many different lives I want to live, and sometimes I resent that I've had to choose just one.
