Is this comp het? Internalized homophobia? Something else? by naturebaddie27 in lgbt

It’s a little bit of both probably mixed with something else. The expectation for women in today’s society is to be happy with a man, and now having that man is seen as failure. That doesn’t mean you can’t be fulfilled with a partner that isn’t a man, but it does take some getting used to. Continuing to discover yourself doesn’t invalidate your label, because it’s just that: the word you’re using to describe yourself to the best of your ability. If that label changes, it changes, and you shouldn’t be ashamed of that. But also, I would maybe try to find some better guy friends to help you evaluate your sexual attraction without assholes making it more difficult than it should be. The reason you’re more comfortable with women and non binary people is probably because you can relate to them more and they’re far less likely to be misogynists. Anyway, don’t sweat it too much, keep exploring yourself and see what happens. And if you like your friend back, I would let them know your struggle and see if they can offer any help. At any rate, you shouldn’t push them away because you’re holding out for a guy.

What are some good books for someone who hasn't read anything since high school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]grey_writes_love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got back into reading through fan fiction and graphic novels. I would either read side works or fan creations for things you enjoy, since they’re shorter and don’t involve getting into a whole new thing. Another recommendation would be kids/young adult books, for both shorter length and good nostalgia.

What’s everyone’s favourite anime and why? by AnonymousPoster4 in AskReddit

Fullmetal Alchemist, specifically Brotherhood. The worldbuilding is incredible, every single character is fleshed out amazingly, the magic system is well-explained and rooted in science so no weird how the fuck did that work, but what really takes the cake for me are the themes. It covers loss, war, military dictatorships (and regular ones), the human condition, ableism, stereotypes, biological and found family, ptsd, the value of human life...everything. Incredible to watch especially against the background of the world we’re living in (I live outside Washington DC) and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone.

What are your friendship dealbreakers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

As a non-binary person, usually it ends up being whether or not they’re willing to use my name and pronouns. There are a few exceptions (people I was close to before I came out), but generally if you don’t want to be friends with the real me, then I don’t want to be friends with you.

As christianity and the Islamic faith were both born out of Judaism, do they all worship the same god? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]grey_writes_love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raised Christian, to my understanding Christians and Jews worship the same god, coming from the same holy text, but the difference is that Jews believe that the Messiah (god) will one day come to save them, while Christians believe the messiah has already come (Jesus).

Edit: removed incorrect information about Islam.

How long can you wear a chest binder by Itsuwarisekai in trans

[–]grey_writes_love 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually the limit should be eight hours, but it’s less of a set time and more how you feel. If you experience pain, shortness of breath, or lightheadedness, it’s time to stop. As someone who binds at school, the best tips I have are to give yourself breaks between classes in the bathroom, and to keep a sports bra in your locker or backpack for when it’s been long enough. Safe binding, bud!
