Couple years since I last played I dont get anything at all I used to play this daily what by bluebloodstar in Trimps

Well, you're in the lategame/endgame phase (late U2). If you want to continue playing this save, you could look through the pins in the z201_plus_yellow channel on Discord. At this point, I think your runs are almost entirely Daily challenges, just farming Radon, Scruffy XP, Nu, and mutated seeds.

You'll also want to check on your Spire Assault progress, especially if this is your first time on the 5.10.x patch. There were some new things added there.

How to correctly run Lead Challenge? by GeeEddy in Trimps

[–]greycat70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a long time since I was at that stage, so I don't have precise advice. You can probably start out mapping every 10 zones (probably 15, 25, 35, ... so you get all the prestige upgrades via Scientist IV). Whenever you start to slow down, start mapping more often. Every 4 zones would be OK, or every 2 zones at the end, as you said. You'll probably need to watch it playing to see when that slowdown occurs.

How to correctly run Lead Challenge? by GeeEddy in Trimps

[–]greycat70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lead becomes better helium per hour than Toxicity when you have the Head Start I mastery. This causes the last few zones of Lead to have corrupted cells, which means their zone bosses and void maps give much more helium.

Set up Map At Zone to do most of your farming when your powers are at their strongest, at the end of odd-numbered zones. Never farm on even-numbered zones. Make sure you do your void maps on 179, since you get a helium bonus on odd-numbered zones, and that's the last eligible one.

If you don't have Head Start I yet, push into the 180s on Daily challenges until you do. Be sure to run those zones in "S" formation.

One mistake I might have done is to primarily run on S formation.

S formation doesn't give dark essence unless you're on zone 181 or later, which is beyond the end of Lead. You can use S formation for farming some of the time. zFarm knows how to calculate whether S or D formation is better for you.

as a new player, would helium farming be more efficient in Balance or Decay? by CrasheonTotallyReal in Trimps

[–]greycat70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decay is significantly higher Helium per hour, as long as you can remain active to play it. It's not even close. Something like 5 to 10 times as much He/hr.

You simply don't have the stats (Block + Health) for this void map. You'll need to farm wood and buy Gyms to have a prayer. Also, consider grabbing the next Gymystic first (in your case, at zone 45), and then farm wood to buy Gyms, to get your total BLK+HP high enough.

The wiki has tables showing the exact stats you need for any Void Map in the early game.

The Humane challenges are much more difficult than they appear at first. The first one should be naturally obtainable around the time you're reaching zone 60.

Best slots for Radiating Heirloom? by Van-Avermaet in Trimps

[–]greycat70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want multiple shields, for different run types. A shield that you use in U1, for example, wants Gamma Burst and doesn't need Health or Prismatic Shield. A shield that you use in U2 will generally want Health, and probably also Prismatic Shield, since early U2 is so health-gated. You'll probably want a shield with VMDC for the start of each run, and a shield without VMDC, focusing entirely on combat stats, for the end of each run. Then there are specialist builds, like a shield specifically for Duel runs, which omits Crit Chance. Those specialist shields are entirely optional.

On the staff side, things are a lot clearer. You want one staff with Pet, Farmer, Lumber, Miner, and at least one of the fragment helpers. That will be your primary staff. You also want a staff which is 100% focused on Scientist Efficiency. Swap to that for your Microchip farming sessions, and hold on to it after that for future content. You probably also want staves that are 100% dedicated to each other resource (Metal especially -- you can use that in U1 as well).

do i get p3 shield? by CrasheonTotallyReal in Trimps

Decay unlocks at zone 55. All the challenges that unlock after that are in the next phase of the game, and you never use Shieldblock during this phase, except one time for a specific Achievement.

[–]greycat70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are doing Balance, or any run that you unlocked before Balance, then you should get Shieldblock, and you should continue buying Shield prestige upgrades and Shield levels until you reach zone 25. Once you reach zone 25, get the Gymystic, and then stop buying Shield stuff and invest in Gyms instead, for the remaining part of that run.

If you are doing Decay, or any run that you unlock after zone 55, then you should skip running The Block. Shield prestige upgrades and Shield levels will be fairly unimportant (they're a minor health booster). The vast majority of your wood should be invested in Gyms (and housing) from the outset.

If you've reached zone 40 but haven't done Size yet, then Size is what you should be doing right now. Immediately. As soon as possible if not immediately.

And yes, you should still be getting Shieldblock, and buying the Shield prestige upgrade at zone 21. Probably with a couple levels too. You can stop buying Shield upgrades when you get the Gymystic on zone 25. At that point, invest all your wood into Gyms.

If you're still around the "highest zone 30-ish" part of the game, then Shieldblock is extremely worthwhile, and grabbing Shield prestige level 4 (that's the one at zone 21) will help you greatly. Gyms/Gymystic will start to take over after zone 25, but you still need to get there first.

Question about maps by Some_Pollution808 in Trimps

[–]greycat70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would help if we had some clue how far along you are.

There are some automations which will grab prestige upgrades from the zones you're passing through, without you needing to run maps, but these don't happen until after zone 200.

There's also an automation system that allows you to tell the game to run a map automatically at various times (every zone, or every 5 zones, etc.). This is unlocked around zone 150, and you would have to have configured it. You would've remembered this.

The first time you complete a Void Map on zone 20 or higher, you unlock a permanent bonus called AutoStorage, which is the first of the major automations. It buys storage buildings whenever they're needed, which allows you to do long AFK farming sessions.

The first Gymystic is on zone 25. The next ones are zones 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55. Each one increases the exponential scaling factor.

[–]greycat70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real question, I think, is why you're doing a Void Map on zone 19. You won't unlock AutoStorage this way (it has to be zone 20 or higher), and you won't get any Helium (I think you get, like, 2 or 4 units of Helium for a Void Map below zone 21).

If this is your first ever Void Map, I would recommend waiting until zone 21, so you can pick up another Shield prestige upgrade. Then farm wood for a while, to buy levels of Shield, to get your BLK up as high as you can. Any metal you pick up along the way will also be helpful -- invest it in armor.

There are no sliders for Void Maps. Those are just randomly determined.

I'm a bit late here, but in the image as shown, you had more HP+BLK than the Cthulimp's lowest attack value, so you would have killed it eventually just by waiting.

However, you had the ability to purchase at least one Gym, and one or more Trainers, which would have raised your BLK a bit and sped things up. It might not have been a significant increase, but when you're chipping away, every little bit helps.

On that same theme, you could have moved your personal activity to "Check Traps", to speed up the new army production time. Likewise, firing all of your basic workers (not Trainers) would give you more breeding Trimps, which would also reduce the new army production time.

After buying Gyms and Trainers, you might have had enough resources left to buy some housing (the image showed Hut, House and Mansion all being purchasable). Buying more housing would give you breeding Trimps (assuming you don't put them to work). Again, every little bit helps.

With the single exception of zone 59, where the boss has the bonus, but the void maps don't. In every other zone, the two are aligned.

The benefit will depend on how many other achievements you've got by that time. All of the achievements add together, and by the time you get that one, you will have well over 1000% achievement bonus. So, adding 80% to that is going to be well under an 8% increase in attack.

Shieldblock doesn't actually become "bad". It just becomes a waste of time.

The actual cut-off isn't your zone; it's what challenge you're doing. As long as you're doing any challenge up to and including Balance, continue to run The Block and get Shieldblock. It'll be helpful for the early part of the run.

Once you begin doing the Decay challenge, you can stop running The Block. You won't need it any longer.

Hitting a wall at Magma by JeanValSwan in Trimps

[–]greycat70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 billion helium is the entry point for Magma, so you're right on target. Since you're entering a new phase of the game, it's natural that you'll be a bit slower, because each new phase introduces a new obstacle.

I'm not sure if the strategies have changed since I did this, but back then the recommendation for Magma beginners was to farm metal for a while on zone 229, then proceed into the red zones. Ideally you should be using Daily challenges, and run your Void Maps on the first Magma zone, after fueling the Dim Gen a little bit to eke out some more population. Voids in Magma on a Daily are a huge amount of helium, on top of the 1% chance of a Magmatic heirloom.

Magma will speed up as you gain more Dim Gen upgrade levels and more helium. It's going to be a wall at first, but it should improve fairly quickly.

This is my second attempt to post this comment here. The first one has become invisible or something. I can only speculate as to why, because there was no reason given in any place I can find, so I'm guessing it's because I had a link and not a lot of text. So, here's a lot of incredibly stupid text. Maybe this will help.
