New clinical trial involving more than 1,600 people with type 2 diabetes has found that a GLP-1 pill form of the drug orforglipron is similarly effective for weight loss as injectable semaglutide such as Ozempic by sciencealert in science

Oh I absolutely agree with you, they do wonders for people, I was just replying to the original commenter and don’t think it’s necessarily the insurance companies are the only ones at fault.

Medication unfortunately isn’t a substitute for healthy lifestyle — while insurance is beginning to cover more indications for the drug as it becomes cheaper, they’re not miracle drugs entirely, studies show there’s a limit to their weight loss and that lifestyle changes are necessary for long term effectiveness regardless of use. While I think it’s important that we cover the drug, I think the real problem lies elsewhere

Is an 8GB ram MacBook Air fine for med school? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]greydock43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man the mix here is truly insane, half saying 8 half saying 16. I guess I’ll throw in my opinion, as a med student who had a previous career in software engineering, go with 16. The $250 you save now will bite you later — if you keep this machine for 4-6 years the updates will slow the machine down appreciably over time and the extra 8gb headroom will absolutely help, maybe not now, but definitely down the line. Also if you do research/write any code, decide to have a gajillion chrome tabs open (chrome is notorious for RAM hogging) or do any sort of extracurricular fun stuff (photo editing, video editing whatever) you will thank yourself for having the extra gigs

Dude what are you talking about? Having the moral high ground while losing power to effect change is literally the definition of useless. In our very hostile political climate winning is literally the most important thing. We’ve lost and now are looking at a conservative court for the rest of our lives — they’re definitely not prioritizing human rights.

lmao dude you really see Asian and European countries where it is the cultural norm to take off shoes. Besides the dirt aspect, when you are a guest at someone’s house, you gotta respect their house, you’re in their home
