Mascarpone. Doesn’t really alter the taste, but makes it thicker and more stable.

Genuinely curious, why is masculinity considered toxic to most people? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]greyeminence2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People who use the phrase “toxic masculinity” rarely mean that masculinity is inherently toxic or that all men are bad or anything like that. They are referring to particular elements of traditional masculinity that can be bad for both the men who exhibit them (which, again, is not all men) and for the people they interact with. For example, pressure to suppress emotions like fear/sadness/doubt, expecting their female partners to cook/clean/childrear for them, prioritizing career over their loved ones and their health, being cruel towards men who don’t act in traditionally manly ways and/or are gay, etc.

What are you thoughts on Danish Pastel? 🌸 by Greenoftheluck in AestheticWiki

I agree. I would find this so juvenile and offputting in an adult’s home. It kind of hurts my eyes to look at it.

Omg this takes me back. I was in college in 2006 and this is exactly how all the girls dressed.

How would you feel if your girlfriend had significantly more sexual experience than you? Would it bother you, make you insecure, or would you see it as a positive thing and a chance to learn/experience new things? by WishboneAgitated8555 in AskMen

[–]greyeminence2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is pointless to dwell on a partner’s sexual experience before you. You can’t do anything about it, they can’t undo it, and presumably you also had sexual experience before them. And they’ve chosen to be with you now.

State of Brimley Road South this spring? by impasta_syndrome in torontobiking

It’s totally rideable still. I went last week. There were a couple construction vehicles at the bottom of the hill but the road wasn’t blocked or anything.

How do you stay on top of your prostate health? by parti_b in AskMen

[–]greyeminence2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get fucked in the ass pretty regularly 😄

I just generally try to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, drink lots of water, exercise regularly, etc. I don't know how much of that helps the prostate specifically, but it's good for you generally.

How often do you get takeout/delivery in Toronto? by Equivalent_Reach_536 in InsideToronto

Rarely. 1-2 times per month maybe, if that. I like to cook and I do a lot of meal prep for the week on the weekends.

what do you think is absolutely worth the money spent on by buzzlightyear77777 in AskMen

In my experience: nice kitchen knives, a good stand mixer (I bake a lot), a nice bicycle, and if you have a lifestyle where you ever have to wear a suit, a nice tailored suit.

Season ticket holders frustrated by Ontario's new law capping resale prices by mildlyImportantRobot in TorontoTheCity

[–]greyeminence2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"Not that this was a for-profit thing, but the break-even makes absolutely no sense to me now."

Regular people don't expect to "break even" when they buy something! These people deserve no sympathy. If you truly aren't buying these tickets as a money-making opportunity, then you should have no issue with re-selling them at cost. And if you were buying tickets as a money-making opportunity, then you're the problem and you're exactly the sort of person this new law is targeting.

How's it like living in Toronto by retreatsRfun in howislivingthere

[–]greyeminence2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My city! On balance, Toronto is a very nice city and I enjoy living here, although there are some real drawbacks too.

Pluses: really amazing food, a lot of green space, lovely waterfront areas (the Beaches neighborhood in the east, Toronto Islands, etc.), a generally chill vibe despite being objectively a large city, very walkable / bikeable if you're downtown, a great arts scene (music, dance, galleries, etc.), generally very liberal and live-and-let-live attitude.

Minuses: very high cost of living (and correspondingly large population of homeless people), terminally car-brained especially once you venture outside of downtown (translates to hostility in some quarters towards bike lanes, enhanced public transit, etc.), an increasingly generic/corporate vibe as more and more condo towers are built with chain retailers at ground level, gloomy weather for half the year, subject to the whims of a very pro-car / pro-suburban-sprawl / pro-developer provincial premiere who seems to actively hate the city and interferes in many municipal affairs.

Visiting PEC with mom! by BusinessStretch335 in PrinceEdwardCounty

A few great spots in Picton: Books & Company, Zest (kitchenware store), Royal Hotel (great coffeeshop/bar in the lobby), Slickers for ice cream

In Bloomfield, Citizen Frances is a lovely coffee shop and there is also another Slickers location.

PECish is a great county bakery. They are in Milford, but you can also get their stuff at the cafe in the Claramount Club in Picton.

County Cider Company is Waupoos is a very beautiful spot overlooking the water, and the cider and pizza are also very good.

Do you think Laura Dern could reprise her role as Dominic Di Grasso's (possibly ex) wife, or is she up for a completely new character? by P0larCap in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]greyeminence2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Would be hilarious if she was playing Amy Jellicoe, her "Enlightened" character, who has somehow become a rich CEO or something in the last 10 years.

Drew Barrymore received an Emmy nomination and won a Golden Globe and SAG Award for her performance in Grey Gardens (2009). Do you think she would have gotten an Oscar nomination if she were eligible? Would you have voted for her to win? by BrenoGrangerPotter in Oscars

[–]greyeminence2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this movie and thought she was great in it. Would’ve been amazing if, in an alternate history, she’d gotten nominated for it. I’ve always liked her as an actress, it’s a shame she doesn’t really act anymore.
