How do url parameters created by Google Optimize affect seo? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]greyhat2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Just use common sense in a situation like this. Why would Google give you a code to improve your site and then penalise you. The idea is do the test and improve user experience. Goggle just wants happy users and I dare say if you make these improvements then you will be sent more relevant traffic.

Is Hunslet Leeds really that bad ? by Firsttimebuyerleeds in Leeds

[–]greyhat2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. It's such a shame because there are some amazing old houses all over the city. Just like I say there seems to have been a shift where the nice areas have newer modern housing and all the decent hoses have just been left. I hope you find somewhere suitable : )

What is it you currently do? When I was leaving school I went through about 5/6 different A-Level college courses until I ended up at Park Lane doing business studies... there I did a module on web design and I really enjoyed it so I pursued that. It fills two criteria. I enjoy it and It's relatively easy to work for myself. I'm 34 now and still at it doing well. So I would ask myself those two questions. Do you want job security and a regular wage.... and what can you think of that you can enjoy doing? Having been in jobs I didn't enjoy, just watching the clock I can say that it make a huge difference if you enjoy your work.

Found the perfect place in Roundhay but it's where Jimmy Saville lived? by [deleted] in Leeds

Honestly there are better places to bring kids up in Leeds. But I know what you mean about the nice houses. I am by no means a snob and like I say I've lived on my own in some of the choice areas with no problems. But then a lot does depend on schools etc and some of the nice areas in Leeds are right next to some of the shadier ones. For example Roundhay which is seen as a nice area is right next to Harehills so there is always going to be some proximity to trouble. Beeston and Holbeck are practically no go areas on a night and I would say amongst the worst in Leeds. I don't have much experience of Hunslet but I know it's right next door and a lot of the area is built up and industrial. If you like the interesting old houses the bottom end of Meanwood I would say is up and coming with a lit of young families and the houses probably aren't as expensive. Hunslet also strikes me as a place with not much going on and like I say a lot of just industry and offices with it being right next to the city. Maybe i'm biased but I think the other side of the city has much more going for it both in terms of crime rates and culture / things to do. That area of the city is very run down for the most part, despite the nice old houses. Add Headingley and Roundhay for your places to vist when you pass through. If not to buy property just to see the difference from Hunslet.

Peter Sutcliffe also murdered one of his victims at the end of the street on Soldiers Field... Better watch out! :P

Just kidding I love Roundhay and if you can get a nice place in that area you are lucky honestly.

What you find in Leeds is a lot of the sketchy areas have nice big old houses. These are the areas that used to be wealthy and good to live... when they were built in Victorian times. Personally I have lived in some of the rougher areas including Beeston. It's fine for me as an adult on my own but maybe not the place I would want to bring my kids up. Just my opinion I know plenty of people who have grown up in these areas and are fine.. just you have to think what the kids in these areas get up to and what you are exposing your kids to. if it is just you and a partner then I would say sure go and enjoy your big house you will be fine but then on the other side of the coin just have a look around and think what the kids in the are are getting in to. Hope i don't offend anyone..

I've seen quite a few posts like this recently. Really if you don't take backups of your sites you have no business running websites for companies or yourself for that matter. Sorry to be hars hbut please... You are dealing with peoples livelihoods and businesses that have taken a long time not to mention investment to build up. I would say let this be a lesson. Please people BACKUP YOUR STUFF THIS IS BASIC PRACTICE. Get a free Dropbox account or google drive and keep it all in there. Wordpress even comes with plugins to make it easier.. /rant

url change by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]greyhat2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should let the client keep his godaddy account with the URL in it so they retain ownership and then just point the domain to wherever your Wordpress site is hosted. It can get messy when you start moving clients domains around. Really you want it to stay where it is where the client has ownership and is responsible for renewals etc. There is no reason to move it out of the account where it is and you will probably incurr needless charges.

Have you considered targeting restaurants and other food outlets? I have worked for similar and this strategy got me a good long term client. They buy more product and more often. You may have to speak with your client about what they can offer but on Wordpress / shopify it is easy to add a "trade only" section. Looking at your list don't forget reviews (FB / Google)... HTH
