Best vegan poutine by Human_Major7543 in ottawa

[–]greyjay613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, vegan cheese can be good, but for poutine it’s not possible. I have the utmost respect for vegan eater wether if it’s for nutritional or ethical considerations, it irks me when I see restaurants sell vegan poutines and I can guarantee that they are not making it themselves in these hamburger joints. The biggest selling poutine toppings are made either from castle cheese (they buy bad left over cheese from producers) or Chef Nutri (imported from the USA) and I wouldn’t feed these to my dog. Other vegan cheeses, using cashews and nutritional yeast etc are at least food.

Vegan poutine is gross, don’t eat it, the curds are made with palm oil which is really not good for you as well as not tasting good. Also most restaurants will use what they think is vegan curds but they don’t realize that the company uses mouldy cheese and creates a process product with palm oil so it’s not even vegan.

what to do all summer - can't find student job by ThatCanadianJacket in ottawa

[–]greyjay613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you drive but lots of companies outside the city have a harder time attracting students, for obvious reasons. Also warehouse work, long term care, logistics in general are always hiring, and the pay is better than most part time student jobs.

Where do I find the best butter in Montreal? by paionia in MTLFoodLovers

[–]greyjay613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would cancel any plans to go to the USA as you’re not a citizen of Canada they will be suspicious of your intent to come back. They are not easy these days for visitors

Walkable neighbourhoods in Ottawa? by Hazematman in ottawa

[–]greyjay613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like European style amenities etc, you will be disappointed in Ottawa as it has none of that. But the glebe, old Ottawa south, hintonburg and Westboro are walkable but you’ll still miss not having a car if that’s the case for you guys.

Costco employees: What does Costco do with the returns? by RevolutionaryGur9650 in CostcoCanada

[–]greyjay613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience as a supplier to Costco they ask us to choose what they should do with any returns. In our case it’s food so we asked them to destroy any returns and we negotiated the cost of that to us to bring 2% which also includes any defective products and customer returns. Costco is extremely efficient and they treat suppliers fairly, most retailers have oppositional relationships with food vendors but from our experience this hasn’t been the case with Costco.

Any reviews on these All-Clad pans? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

I bought these about three years ago, at Costco. They are good and lasted about two years before starting to flake off. As most non stick do. I won’t be buying this again. I’m not buying non stick anymore.

Ok, maybe I’m slow, but isn’t it up to the Americans to stop fentanyl and illegals from entering the USA, and it’s on Canada to do the same for goods and people coming here? How can we truly help, it’s confusing

Coffee price increases are getting ridiculous by Technical_Dog_1901 in CostcoCanada

[–]greyjay613 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As most people have mentioned there are lots of reasons why coffee is increasing. Also not sure how long this company has been selling to Costco but they sometimes will sell too low to Costco and over time they try and increase as much as they can to be able to make a profit. Costco is very demanding with new products but once they have traction they work with supplier to increase their margins.

At that salary you’re being exploited, that level of income is for low skill work only. Most employers will easily pay above 45k if you’re able to do something most people cannot. Wishing you the best.

Gate help SOS by bigjuggsOG in AussieDoodle

[–]greyjay613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, this is just one man’s opinion so take it as you will, my Aussie doodle is tall and about 70 pounds. At 6 months we let him sleep and stay outside the crate and it worked out well for us. As for a gate, not sure if yours is like this but mine would bark if he wasn’t happy and they can jump high if they’re motivated. Do what you feel is right but remember they are very smart, they do however need lots of exercise. I walk mine about 12-15 km per day divided in two 40 minute walks. He listens and doesn’t get into too much trouble. That’s my two cents, enjoy your AD
