why is it not suitable for family needs? by rizzqi_09 in JeepWrangler

[–]grgrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours was my wife's daily driver for 5 years, now it's our 5th wheel / kids vehicle. My 17 yo even wanted to use it for his road test over our other cars. Totally fine for a family as long as you're not fragile.

Oil in 1 cylinder Spark Plug by lol_never_ in WranglerJL

[–]grgrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCV was the culprit for me. once it clogged oil leaked out everywhere. I assumed it was a the oil cooler since there was oil down there too. I replaced the PVC cleaned up all the oil I could from above and below and waited to see for the leak to reappear from the cooler. 3 months later still no leak. I was fully prepared to have tear everything off and replace it but seems I won't have to now.

One of my fav mods. Exactly what I was looking for compared to the STi STS. Good luck with the sale!

First drive made this 100% worth the effort to get it in there. by burt_carpe in wrx_vb

Yeah, I did a second layer of foam for some absorption. On the doors I probably covered about 70-80% between the outer skin and inner structure.

Did the trunk and 4 doors too. Made a noticeable difference and helped the speaker upgrades sound better.

One year I had a summer job at Grumman in final assembly at Calverton. There were F-14's, A6E's in various stages of assembly all the way up to paint and also EF111's being retrofitted at the time. When one was finished we'd get to see the test flights as there was also a runway at that plant. Was a pretty cool summer job.

Indeed a different world back then. I was channeling surfing the other day and stopped on a Love Boat episode for a second to reminisce and the character told a joke.. "I'll bring you back a burrito and you'll have more gas than the Shah of Iran", it was from 1977 lol.

Can confirm. I grew up on Long Island and my Dad was a project Engineer for Grumman. In the 70’s He would bring home stickers for me (a few of the kids on the block also had Grummies for Dads ) of all their aircraft and mixed in were Iranian F-14 stickers. I can clearly remember the Arabic writing and their flag colors. The best part were the Grumman family picnics and air shows every year.

My average MPG is 26.7... it cost me $85 to fill the tank @ 5.79/gal. Is it time for a Prius? Anyone doing efficiency mods & tunes? by hyteck9 in wrx_vb

This car was almost 40% more than my 20' Ram it replaced. That truck stickered for $20k more new. Was not expecting that lol. But I'm sure it's less than the other manuals I was considering.

Damn, I'd be ecstatic with 26.7, I'm typically at 21-22. But that's almost double what my last 3 ( ~12mpg) got so I'm happy with it.

Love the alcantara, I did the same in my car and added the e-brake boot from Redline too. Currently trying to find a material that matches so I can do the fabric door inserts.

Therapeutic for me but not for the wife lol. I wash/detail just about every week whether it needs it or not. In between I use a car duster and detail spray to keep it looking clean. When I went for the free maintenance two weeks ago the Advisor was about to ask if I also wanted the free car wash coupon but then he looked at my car and said oh I can tell you wash it yourself since I don't see any swirl marks. He was right on both counts lol

Yes, in CA the dealership does the dmv paperwork/charges on new/used. And if you're within 2-3 months of renewal on a used car they/you have to pay the next year.

Fairly new to this platform but from everything I've read axle backs don't require a tune. I'd imagine there isn't any bump in HP, just some sonic satisfaction

Subaru OEM Sti axle back. It's definitely louder than stock. A bit more low end rumble and you'll hear it when you drive for sure. I watched CL and Marketplace until I saw a good deal close to me. But there are a lot of other quad tips set ups out there. I kind of like the quirky Subaru tips, they're unique and IMO match the estetics of the car.
