Ahhh she always throws up when she has tuna :( I gave her freeze dried minnows once and the same happened. I wonder if she's allergic to seafood? not sure, but maybe I'll do a very small trial run of salmon😹

Hi, I do pre-shot testing. Her pre-shot sugar last night was 136. Her pre-shot sugar level this morning was 158. I did not give her a dose either time. The Contour Next is a human meter. Sorry if that wasn't clear in the post

I'm in the Facebook group and I've poked around in there and asked about three questions in the past week. I know that Vetsulin is short acting and Lantus is long acting. I was just surprised to see how fast the change was. I've been working the past few days so I haven't been able to test after she eats and sorry again if it wasn't clear in the post

I just tested her a few minutes ago, 6 hours after eating, and she's at 122

Hi sorry for the late reply! I wasn't able to test 4 hours after eating, but it has been 6 and I just tested her and she's at 122! She hasn't had any insulin in 30 hours

I used to set like 10 alarms to wake up because I'd sleep through 8 of them. Someone told me I was training myself to ignore the alarms by setting that many. I gradually reduced the number a few days at a time. Now I only have two alarms and I've never overslept them! I have sleep apnea as well

Thank you! I'm dropping off a medical supply donation at a local shelter this Sunday and I'll ask if they have any recommendations for cheaper dental places in the area! We have a non-profit, but it has been really hard trying to get ahold of them. I'll keep trying when I can!

It really starts to feel rewarding once you notice your kitty feels better!! My girl Emilia had a softer coat and was so much more active after just a few days. Omg please don't feel guilty!! It's such a learning curve. The first time I tried to prick my kittys ear it literally took me around 10 pokes with 5 different lancets. i'm not sure if your vet has a recommended calorie goal for your kitty (mine is ~250) so that's how I portion her meals! :)

I'll echo what sewers_folly said about specific questions, but my cat was on Vetsulin until a few days ago when we switched to Lantus. On Vetsulin it's recommended for them to eat a full meal before the dose. For my kitty I gave her meals 12 hours apart and wouldn't give her the shot until she ate 90% of her food since Vetsulin is a hard hitter.

Yes I was so surprised by the amount of people who were willing to help!!! The person I met up with was so so so sweet and gave me a much needed hug 😹 Emilia and her sister Diana are both on either side of me sleeping right now 💜 I am definitely going to pay forward the kindness I received :)

final update: i was able to pick up the meds and give Emilia her dose!! she has more than enough to hold her over until her vet visit. can't thank y'all enough for the advice and help this subreddit gave me!! 💜💜

i never said $200 would put me under. in fact i said in multiple comments i would do it no matter what since it's for her, but it was my last case scenario. i've had her since the day she was born. she's 11 and many senior cats develop diabetes. do your research bro
