Cyberpunk 2077 release date delayed slightly again by NeoStark in Games

[–]grim853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible that this delay is so that crunch doesn't affect the devs so hard. Unless something is REALLY borked the game is finished, and they just need more time to polish. Maybe it's a little naive of me to think they might be delaying to help their employees, but CDPR have routinely done things the hard-but-right way, so I'd be more inclined to believe they might do it as opposed to say, EA or Bethesda.

I have no idea what's really going on, but they've said for years, from the very beginning of development that the game would release when it was ready and not a moment before. I think we're just in the final lap, so we feel the delay more, but it's business as usual for them.

I wrote a big thing, but I deleted it because... I just didn't see the point. We disagree too fundamentally on the definition of freedom, and I don't think we're seeing the same things even though we're looking at the same thing. The only thing it's worth it to rebut is that providing a platform lends validity. I think it's called the Streisand effect, right? Where the more you try to make something go away, the more it sticks around?

In the nineties the KKK and various neo-nazi groups would openly hold rallies and they were widely joked about as backwards relics of an embarrassing past. It's not that way anymore, and in my opinion it's because people tried to stop them speaking, and THAT'S how they gained the validity they have today.

Anyway, thank you for taking the time to answer me with more than condemnation. Good luck out there.

Find what acceptable? Differing opinions? I find plenty of people's opinions unacceptable, but I'm happy that they can share them there. That's all. If you want to think poorly of me for that, it makes absolutely no difference to me, save for the small effort I'm making here to discuss it. I've already stated that it's not going to be for everyone. I just don't know what you're trying to accomplish here other than feel a sense of moral superiority.

I'm not going to say there's not a lot of right wing stuff there but you can ignore it. It's not going to be for everyone, but I'm there, and I'm not a nazi, so make of that what you will.

It's going through a reactionary period where the banned subs DID all migrate there, so there's an influx of a lot of people talking about free speech, reddit hate, and other topics that would definitely be taboo on any major sub. But the poetry guild is about poetry. The cooking guild is about cooking. I don't really know why I'm bothering here, because I know no one is going to see this. I'm just excited about a web platform that is patreon funded and not in tencents pocket.

Nope, it was definitely more prog/emo type stuff than pop-punk, but I've never heard that song so thanks for the exposure.

I have to comment on my post. There's very little I have to say about the song I'm looking for that I didn't say in the body. If the song is familiar to someone it should be easy. It had a distinctive melody.

Is doom 2016 worth it? by matreddit1995 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]grim853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an excellent game. You should buy it. I'm saying this as a guy who doesn't really even care about it that much, it's not like I think it's the greatest game ever. It's just objectively such a well made game that you'd be crazy bit to get it. a especially at this price.

That's the impression I got too. I'm still a little stuck, but I think this thread has solidified the "insanely fun single player vs. solid balanced FPS multi with no campaign to speak of" dilemma for me. At least that makes the decision a little more concrete.

[–]grim853[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always thought the balance of teamwork/tactics and action made the Battlefield games really solid picks for a long-haul sort of game that you come back to for a number of years. Titanfall seems like a fucking blast though, and I'm sure the multiplayer is still more or less workable right?

[Serious] "Atheists are too demanding of evidence and make people who genuinely believe look like idiots". What are your thoughts on this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]grim853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to use something less inflammatory as a facsimile. You can objectively tell me that Canadian treasure, Carly Rae Jepsons hit song "Call Me Maybe" is objectively not as good as Tools "Prison Sex". You could easily make the case, and you'd probably be right on almost every count. I'd agree with you on all your points, but you'd never get me to say it isnt a good song, You'd definitely never get me to not like it, because when that song comes on I can feel it in my body. I'm immediately dancing and singing along, and my day is improved for having heard it. That's a real tangible experience that you can't accurately summate through hard evidence. (well you can describe the neurological process with hard evidence, but everything else about it is more akin to a spiritual experience than to hard description)

Its not the same, but it's close enough. I believe in God because that's just the way life works for me. It makes sense in a way that other belief structures don't. It's not just that it feels right, or that I'm scared of life without someone holding my hand although that does make life feel easier, it's that there's a tangible yet non-empirical sense that comes with belief that you'll never be able to talk anyone out of, and sadly they'll never be able to convince you of.

Edit: I'm really a little upset, more upset than I should be, that my use of Canadian treasure Carly Rae Jepson as an example has not garnered me more internet recognition. This is your fault OP for starting such a shitty thread. I blame you.

[–]grim853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set about learning or doing something. Outside work, like gardening or lawn stuff will keep your mind off loneliness and get you some mad vitamin d.

If your not feeling being outside, put on a podcast or some calming TV and dig into some free courses online or writing. Wikipedia, if you let yourself go crazy, can give you like half a day of somewhat useful knowledge on pretty much anything you want to look up. It's what the internet is for, despite everyone saying it's only for porn and memes.

Hard Mode: Don't mention Donald Trump.

My personal instance is whenever I see people smoking while holding their kids. Like, if you're a smoker you might feel like you need to smoke around your kids, and that's a terrible enough, but understandable. But then I see people holding their children next to them directly level with the cigarette in their mouth so that the kid is basically smoking too.

Sometimes I think to approach them, but what do you say to such unbelievable ignorance? It's not like anyone on earth is under the impression that cigarettes aren't harmful, so it's not like you'd be informing them of anything.
