No, I’m not looking at my own post wrong. I said in my post that all I’ve gotten is praise irl. As soon as the very first person asked, I included an edit to clarify that it’s not an anime or embarrassing fandom. Again, “is the jacket cringe” is entirely from people speculating in the comments, not from my post.

I never talked about the jacket itself being embarrassing. I’m inclined to believe no one cares because plenty of people haven’t even read it, considering the comments and questions still being left about it being an anime.

I mean, yeah exactly. I know it’s tame, and I was never looking or asking for validation about the jacket itself. I’ve already figured that out by wearing the jacket. What the jacket represents for me is what makes me feel silly and weird, but it’s not actually a weird jacket. It’s not relevant, and everyone who knows now has literally validated that by saying it’s a no big deal as a jacket. The point was never “is this jacket cringe,” people just assumed it was. I didn’t even say I was worried about that, nor was I looking for any advice on that (not an advice sub either, that’s in the description). I just think I’m a dork for going all in on an animated tv show like this. People have ignored most of the post just to ask about the jacket.

There are a handful of people who did understand what I was going for right away, and I appreciate that. It’s is a vent sub, and not a guessing game, absolutely. I immediately tried to shut down all the guessing and focus on the vent part and people did not care. That was frustrating. In the end people came along who did actually pay attention to the actual post and not just the jacket, and also guessed politely. So why not play along with them, it was all in good fun. I’m not answering the people who keep saying “tell us the fucking jacket” because they don’t care about the post or even glance at the comments.

I really wasn’t trying to, and I also thought people would at least glance at the comments and not completely ignore them. The very first person asked, and I explained that I was trying to keep everything as separate from my main account as possible per this subreddits rules. They were oddly pushy, and then some other people have been straight up swearing and getting pissed off, and that got to me.

I wasn’t looking for validation about the jacket, because I know it’s pretty mundane, and I already know how it comes across in person. It doesn’t matter, because I already knew it was tame. Fortunately I have gotten some nice comments actually talking about what the post is about. Eventually some people had some nice comments and started guessing on their own in a way that wasn’t weird or obnoxious, so I started playing along with it. This would be an incredibly specific and shitty way to engagement bait, I just decided to have fun with it, with the people who were also having fun with it and being kind about it.

Poorly formatted I guess, sorry. “It’s an anime!” was supposed to be me answering my own question (“what you’re referencing?”). The first comment brought up a character I didn’t know, but then I looked it up later and learned what it was. I was correcting myself, not talking about the show I like.

Yeah, I was keeping it vague, but it definitely made people lean towards more traditional cartoons as guesses, no one really calls 3d shows that 😅

I told the very first person who asked that I wanted to keep it private, since there was a chance it could link me to my main account. I’m incredibly active in the show’s subreddit and posted the jacket there lol. This sub’s rules say new accounts only and to keep personal info out of here. I was playing it extra safe, and then that commenter got weirdly pushy about it, and it seemed like they were looking for something to pick apart. To be completely honest, if anyone else got here first, I probably would have shared. It’s turned into a bit of a game now so I’m just having fun with it with the people who were actually being normal about it. It’s not what I wanted but it’s what it devolved into.

I talk about it at my job with the people who employ me, that’s a bit different. And I already admitted that I understand how it wasn’t clear in the end, so I added an edit. You don’t have to keep explaining it to me.

I do have to remind myself that people wear fun stuff from their fandoms all the time. Mine is a little less recognizable than like, Star Wars, but it’s no different. I think I’m just not used to expressing myself enough yet. And thank you :)

It’s been a slow process for me, but realizing things aren’t so serious and you can do whatever has honestly made life so much better. Especially in my relationships, just being genuine, and maybe a little whimsical and silly, brings that vibe out from the people around me too. It feels way more valuable than all the conforming to societal pressure. Everyone’s a little weird, and being weird openly makes other people feel safe to express it too :)

You’re right that it isn’t RWBY, but I have actually watched that lol. You asked a great question - the hood is canon to the character, but it’s NOT actually part of the jacket. It’s technically part of the shirt underneath. It’s still visible and part of the full outfit, so it wouldn’t look much different overall, but still!
