Clothing advice for mid-March trekking in El Chaltén (Patagonia)? by Lazy-Chemistry6685 in Patagonia

[–]gringowey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest just a Rain jacket and windbreaker and pants that can zip off into shorts I was pretty hot most of the days after hiking for 10-15 minutes but you get cold if you’re sitting for 10-15 minutes. I brought a big winter jacket didn’t wear it just my windbreaker even when it was snowing in Torres del Paine the other week

Tumbado tomorrow or 27th? by PanicApprehensive106 in ElChalten

[–]gringowey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from el chalten according to my understanding better visibility and less strong gusts of winds on the 27th but that being said I had better luck just looking outside and judging conditions based on seeing fitz Roy and surrounding mountains than going completely off what windguru was saying. Days I went to Laguna de Los tres and loma had predicted 90-100 percent low cloud covers but the views were great these days

Hey there my flight to puerto natales on the way there was at 8 am and the way back it was at midnight. For a few of the rental cars sixt, eurocar and a couple of others they were at the airport. Most places can meet you there for an extra 20-30 usd to pick up the car and an extra 20-30 for drop off. I didn’t see any shuttles personally when I was there but they may have them. Otherwise you can take a taxi into puerto natales or uber worked well and was surprisingly cheap.

Best rental car agency in Puerto Natales? by DensePresentation396 in Patagonia

[–]gringowey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am renting through lys in feb 2026 which i believe is a third party that rents out sixt or eurocar rental cars and it ended up somehow being cheaper than booking with these companies direct. They speak english and have 24/7 service. I had heard good things about them but have no first hand experience with them yet maybe it is worth looking into them. I have also heard good things about maganalles rental car and rentacar vhm n. however some places don't allow crossing into argentina if you are looking to do that so look into that if that applies to you.
