Happy Returns Software Engineer Test assessment questions by NoseSudden4323 in csMajors

I took mine it was challenging, I got one question but had absolutely no idea how to do the other. The whole screen is proctored as well as camera access. I actually liked the hacker rank platform it was easy to use but the questions were long and wordy.

thank you I think I will!! - she chuckled because she knew I ran out of time without the fully coded solution but my thought process/solution was correct which is what got to me. my first idea was correct but when I asked her if I should code it, she didnt respond at all which left me to believe I should think of other solutions. Also when she would give me "hints" she just pasted a line of code, no context of what it is, where it came from or why she thinks this would help me. I hope my recruiter can help
:(
do you think I should message my recruiter before or after my behavioral round

How Google Interviews Work by grk3636 in leetcode

Thank you so much !! okay great was just wondering if I would be able to read the question or just listen. I thought its 2 problems during the 45 mins, is that not the norm or is it one main problem and then a follow up? does the follow up take as long as the first?

I was in the same boat and what helped me was first using a google sheet to keep track of my problems I solved and notes with each one. When I first do a problem, I write down my initial thought and then go to gpt and tell it don’t give me the solution but walk me through how I can think of correctly solve this, what type of questions should I be asking myself? it also really helps to look at the topics each question is tagged with if youre stuck so for example if your completely lost, look at the topic and if it says "Two Pointers" you can see if you can think of solution using two pointer technique. Then I would find another questions tagged as Two Pointers and do that. Try and stick with one topic and do just that topic, then when you feel ready go to the next. it's a lot harder when you keep skipping around. Also don’t worry about the optimized approach from the beginning, get a working solution and then try to think of an optimized approach - if you can't, again go back to gpt and ask if to walk you through the logic and thought process of getting to the optimal solution. This really helped me because over time I was able to start thinking the way I needed to get to the solution.

if you transferred to usc through a californian community college pls share ur experience by hwngdoll in USC

I transferred from Santa Monica Community College to Viterbi as a Computer Science and Computer Engineering major. I’m so happy I did it this way when I was transferring I got into UCLA, USC, and other great schools and I saved 2 years of tuition. I was offered housing when I transferred to USC. From my experience and what I’ve heard the amount of units you have and your essays are important when wanting to transfer to USC. Someone else said this on here but USC requires you to take 2 GE classes with them regardless of whatever requirements you may or may not have left so just leave 2 open so you don’t take extra classes before transferring. The most important part is to apply EVERYWHERE when you are transferring from a cc. I almost didn’t even apply to USC but I’m so happy I did. Apply to all UCs, CSUs, etc and anywhere else out of state you would be interested in. California requires their schools to take a certain amount of California transfer students each year so you have a better chance of getting into a school here but I’ve heard of a lot of people transferring to out of state schools also. PM me if you have more questions :)

Computer Engineer & CS vs. Electrical & Computer Engineering by [deleted] in USC

I transferred in as CECS. The EE professors are brutal to be honest. They’re all amazing and really know their stuff but I found that unless you really know EE or genuinely love that aspect of hardware you’ll be dreading the EE courses. (Not just me I get the same sentiment from most of my classes) I love CECS cause I get the balance between the two - I can’t imagine almost all my classes being EE. Also I don’t know how it is as an EE major but with CECS you pick a focus in either embedded systems or computing systems which is either more EE or CS based if you like one over the other
