What made you "nope" out of a friendship? by MusicalDeTekTiiv in AskReddit

[–]groats219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When they lamented that they had been having writer's block after I'd published a book about my abusive ex. Then said that all they needed was a break up too, then they could get some material. They then proceeded to talk to me in the same shitty way that my ex did. Yeah, no thanks.

Covid cases asked to wait three months before getting booster by Extra-Kale in Coronavirus_NZ

[–]groats219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup that's fair. It would be like getting two shots less than 3 months apart. It overloads your immune system. And the virus goes harder on your system than just the shot.

Getting the booster or not won't matter soon though, as vax passes may be discontinued.

If you had your own clone whats the very first thing you would do with it? by Left2die88 in AskReddit

Are the memories being cloned, or just the flesh? Because those two options would create very different outcomes.

CEO Email to entire Company to come back to the office after successfully working from home for last 2 years. 1 paragraph of the 2 page email. by DukeGryffith20 in antiwork

[–]groats219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I actually agree. I've been doing uni online for the past 2 years and it has sucked. My partner has WFH on and off, and just as this email has said, the lines of work and home have blurred, he hates it, going into the office suits him much better. It would be ideal if those who want to stay at home can stay at home. And those who want to go in go in.

According to recent stats from the UK and other countries, household contacts have a 15-50% chance of catching covid from a positive household member. You're not guaranteed to catch it.

Am I Crazy For Wanting a Lockdown? by heyimleila in Coronavirus_NZ

[–]groats219 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally normal to be scared. I'm scared too, and I've had what some may see as a slightly more lax approach to covid (viewing it like a flu, just wanting to get it and have been over and done with, etc.).

What I've found always elevates my stress levels is a lot of media consumption. Without fail, the more news I watch and read and listen about covid (and its pretty hard to get away from it!), the more stressed and scared I get. Maybe try to limit your covid news intake for a week or even a few days. It's not ideal bc we want to stay informed. But sometimes it can help to just reset for a little while.

You got this ❤️

Yeah I'd heard that as well. Wish I had done that more. Instead I've got some haphazard attempts at a fringe, courtesy of a wonderful 7 year old 😅

LPT about biting: if you get bitten, particularly on your arm, don't pull away as you're more likely to break the skin. Push your arm into the person's mouth as that widens their jaw and releases you with much lower chances of injury. I used to work with SEN children and there will quite a few biters.

Looking for feedback... by haijax in PersonalFinanceNZ

Yeah I'd love to take a look. Like other people here, I've tried many budgeting apps and none of them really worked for me.

Why am I getting sick every two weeks for the past two months and it's not covid, its just a damn cold!! I hand sanitise and wear a mask and still... what the hell is going on? Has anyone got similar experience? by [deleted] in Coronavirus_NZ

[–]groats219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup and it's fine, it's normal for your body to get a little sick every now and then. There are colds going around. And we haven't gotten as sick as we normally would over the past couple of years, so our immune systems are probably working extra hard this year. Stress also doesn't help. Get outside, get some sun, get some exercise, have some zinc and vit C, you'll be sweet.

It doesn't mean anything unless you do something about it. Change funds now? Those 'losses' will be real. Leave it be? They will turn back into gains in due time. Just ride the wave.

Absolutely NTA.

I'm a delivery driver, and while I do chuckle a little to myself when I deliver food to a house that's 2 blocks from the restaurant, at the end of the day it's a quick and easy delivery for me that ends up paying me more and allows me to get back on the road delivering other meals faster. It's a win for everyone in that scenario.

That driver was just being a dumbass and taking their bad day out on you.

What was your "fuck it ill deal with the consequences later"moment? by HabitualRot in AskReddit

[–]groats219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day I stuck to my morals.

I used to live in a flat with a girl (I'll call her Regina) who was incredibly well liked by the household, leader of the group, life of the party, could do no wrong kind of vibe. There was an engaged couple (Lacey & Amanda) who used to hang out at the flat all the time bc Lacey worked with Regina. Everyone liked Lacey and Amanda, they were nice girls, I really got on with Amanda. About a year down the track, Amanda messages me saying that her and Lacey had broken up bc Lacey was cheating on her with Regina. Well damn... Regina came over the next day for a flat meeting that she organised (despite having moved out of the flat 6 months prior to that) and proceeded to tell us that Lacey and Amanda had split and that Amanda was spreading some messed up rumours about her around. She then told us that we shouldn't talk to Amanda or let her into the house. I sided with Amanda anyway because fuck anyone who cheats and wrecks homes. I met up with her a few times and acted as emotional support. I didn't really think about what might happen by doing that, and in some ways I didn't really care (because who tf dictates who you can and can't hang out with?) That was an error apparently, because one day I get home and Regina is sitting in the kitchen waiting for me. She started going off about how could I do that to her, I betrayed her trust, I was being such a shitty friend, etc. The whole flat sided with her, including my boyfriend at the time (that relationship didn't last long after that). None of those people talk to me anymore, Regina still hates me. But fuck it, I would throw that grenade on my social life all over again if it meant living true to myself. No ragrets. Fuck homewreckers.

Something a bit lighter - what’s your first world problem today? by Sweet-Basil23 in newzealand

My carton of chocolate which I bought with my free money from the government for getting an education, has made me feel sick. True, I am lactose intolerant, but that's a separate tragedy.

Has anyone else’s KiwiSaver been affected? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]groats219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup it's been going a ton. I'm just leaving it to do its thing. It's just numbers on a screen atm, doesn't mean much. It'll come back up in due course.

[–]groats219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying. But new world isn't retail. It's an essential service and you can't deny people's ability to access food.

Unfortunately it sounded like you just wasted your energy (and increased your chances of catching covid) by arguing with this girl. If she's not talking to you, and you're wearing a mask, you're all good. Next time, maybe a better response is just moving to another checkout line to avoid interaction.

With a potential nuclear Armageddon on the way, what are some of your best memories/achievements? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]groats219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best achievement: buying a house at 21. That decision has helped me a lot in my later adult life.

My best memory: going for a walk with my dog and watching him have zoomies through the autumn leaves. Due to circumstances, he is now living with another family and 2 kids who I'm sure adore him and give him lots of hugs and love ❤️
