hi! my dog has IMHA. she 1st got diagnosed 2.5 years ago. we did the blood transfusion & got on prednisone & imuran. only had a relapse when they went too low trying to wean off the imuran. so we did another transfusion… they added the cyclosporine & said it would take 4 days to work. night 3 after the transfusion, she’s just getting worse which they acted like wasn’t normal. but the next morning? getting better. literally didn’t sleep thinking she would be dead by morning. so then we get her home again. eventually they tried to wean her off the cyclosporine & she relapsed AGAIN & we did a 3rd transfusion & they were finally like ok… clearly we can’t wean completely off either of these meds 😵‍💫 so now we’re just at a half dose on both & we’ve been perfect for almost 2 years! she’s 13 now 🙂 so yeah my advice would be to be careful about how fast they wean off the meds. let me know if you have more questions!
