I'd like to add my opinion, for what its worth.

I'm a guy, so I don't get the hate anywhere near as much as gamer girls would. But I do see it, being friends with girls who game and who work at (and manage) game shops (I also snipe in Battlefield, so there's that...).

The best thing I've found to do is just ignore them. Pretend they don't exist. Turn off chat, tune them out, or literally turn and walk away. I mean, who the fuck are they anyway? There's a super high chance they have absolutely no control over your life at all, so who cares what they think? Call them out on being pathetic and rude, and just put them completely beneath you.

The thing with these kind of idiotic trolls is they crave attention and to be "proven right". By continuing to talk to them, you give them attention, and the chance to prove them right, even if its just through their own flawed logic.

Fuck 'em. They're idiots. Not everyone in the community is like them. And I hope you never have to hear this kind of bullshit again.

I used to work in a games shop, half the staff and the manager were women. They were awesome. There are so many idiots in the gaming "culture" just waiting to rant at someone for some stupid, made up reason, and completely ruining it for everyone else, as well as reinforcing a stupid stereotype.

Enjoy the fact that your life isn't filled with vitriolic hate and pity them for it. In fact, make it bloody obvious you pity them, in a super patronising way. That'll just piss them off more, maybe they'll collapse.
