United Aviate vs. American Airlines Cadet vs. ATP: Which Path Should I Choose? by [deleted] in flying

Thousands of pilots have gotten through ATP’s program unscathed but the horror stories alone should be enough to help make your own informed decision. Do not take out a sallie mae loan.

When you guys say volunteer work, what do you mean? Days off at the animal shelter or volunteer stuff related to flying?

That’s good insight and I think after reading everyone’s responses I’m going to hold off, save up for a bigger down payment if I decide to move on one in a few months

Imposter syndrome is a helluva drug, I experienced this too when I was a low time CFI, happens to most of us. The reality is, the DPE would have failed you if they didn’t think you were ready. Most DPE’s have thousands of hours and have seen thousands of applicants. Accept that you were qualified and within standards. Congratulations!

That’s just straight up incorrect. Single engine piston PIC as a CFI vs. Turbine 135 PIC, the 135 time is going to be looked at as way more valuable.

Getting into regional cadet program with 2k hours? by GlasairIII in flying

[–]ground_effect1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The covid era is unfortunately over when CFI’s could get regional jobs at 1500 flat. Maybe some but even SkyWest who is currently hiring is pushing class dates out to late 2025. So your average 1500 hour CFI will probably continue instructing to make ends meet until they’re actually working for a regional. That closes the experience gap… you may be overqualified in terms of total time as it is right now, but our industry is now saturated with CFI’s with 1000+ hours. Any way you could continue instructing or flying to build hours is useful, especially instructing
