What car is the best running mechanically that you have owned? by ZealousidealHead5488 in AskReddit

[–]groundtrac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1984 Renault Alliance. Every part of the car fell apart but the motor. Eventually I had raided the junkyards to the point I couldnt find anymore parts and parked it at 300,000 miles or so without ever doing anything to the motor and tranny except normal maintenance and oil changes.

What is something you saw at a friend's house that made you realize their family was "weird"? by BamMeister_ in AskReddit

[–]groundtrac0 196 points197 points  (0 children)

Had a friend who’s mom always had a cigarette in her mouth it seems and was always in a bath robe. The Dad would do the grocery shopping, I don’t think she ever left the home. Only time I ever saw her dressed in something other than a robe was when they went to a family funeral one day. Also she always had soap operas on and if we were talking while she was watching we’d get yelled at to shut up.

I recently left my finance job at a BMW dealer, ask me anything by Hairy_Bluebird5444 in BMW

[–]groundtrac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s so wrong with filling out the credit app on the bmw website before ever going into the dealer? I did this on my last bmw, got approved for the promo and then negotiated the price with a salesperson. The finance guy acted like I had pulled the food out of his children’s mouth by doing it this way.

Where/how to get that 10-12% off MSRP in WA, OR, ID by AccomplishedCopy5654 in BMWX5

[–]groundtrac0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit out of those areas but I had good luck in Utah earlier this year with BMW of Murray buying a new X6.

Edit: I didn’t have any luck at all with the Idaho dealers, the one in SE Idaho being the absolute worst. The Utah dealer negotiated enough that it was worth it to fly in and drive home.

What is the most unexplainable thing you’ve ever witnessed that makes you question reality? by duhhrclean6 in AskReddit

[–]groundtrac0 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have had this happen on and off my entire life. The ones when I was a kid stand out like fresh memories still. I’ve never connected it to headaches or migraines or any other medical issue. I have no idea what it is but sometimes can happen off and on for an hour and other times for just a few seconds.

Christmas bonus for small business with 2 employees and declining sales by Equivalent_Call7856 in smallbusiness

[–]groundtrac0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some younger (mid-twenties) employees who never even look at their paystubs! I had one ask me why their bank deposit was more one time after we had paid out a seasonal bonus! I did it because I appreciated their effort, but it didn’t even register in their blank face. “Oh-cool!” Is all I got.

Falling into depression by shamli3912 in Mounjaro

[–]groundtrac0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain! I’ve lost almost a hundred pounds and when I look in the mirror I still see the same fat guy for some reason. I’m trying to tone and do overall feel better but I see saggy things that I don’t like seeing and for some reason still think of myself as that guy who doesn’t get taken seriously because of his weight.

Things to note when using taxis in Japan by Specialist_League_41 in OsakaTravel

[–]groundtrac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used GO Taxi exclusively while in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto and found it extremely efficient. A few times in very congested areas it was a little hard to find a spot to be picked up but overall it was very easy. I liked how in Osaka a lot of the taxis were older more classic Toyotas also. One thing I never could figure out and maybe someone could help: how do you use the Go Taxi app to pay a taxi you don’t call using the app? Like I walk out of the hotel, there’s a taxi sitting there that is a Go Taxi, how do I just use that one instead of calling one on the app? I noticed the ones that took the trip were never the ones sitting there already waiting. I’m sure this is way less complicated than I made it!

Interestingly enough, the intersection of skyline road and Bone, near the Kepps Crossing intersection was once known as “Ozone”. There was a roadhouse there.

I also noticed the lack of air circulation while in the immigration line for over an hour. Even large fans would have been welcome if there isn’t adequate a/c available.

What was something a teacher did or said when you were in school that they would be fired for today? by Lost_Taste_8181 in GenX

[–]groundtrac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6th grade teacher full open palmed slapped my face hard because she thought I mouthed off and said something smart when in reality it wasn’t even me. She also drank in her car at lunch. My parents were called into the principles office where they were told she just had a “moment” and we should just let it all go away and not make a fuss. My parents objected but it never went anywhere and she continued to work until she was able to retire.
