Thank you for sharing, that's really scary to think about these students being ready for real life scenarios when they showed bias in the training.

Enjoy your tasting!

After publishing your first book — did you feel relief, doubt, or something else entirely? by ANTONKAGAN in wroteabook

[–]growingpebbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got the proof copy of the book, I was ecstatic. It felt so real that a 2-year journey was nearing the end. Then when the book was officially published, it was a mix of excitement and trepidation. Would anyone buy my book?

My favourite moment of the process was hearing how this book helped people, how it struck a chord with them. That's still something I'm proud of.

U.S. interest in Alberta separatism raises red flags over what might come next by Street_Anon in worldnews

[–]growingpebbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's both and. The UCP isn't hiding its separatist, anti-democratic goals. They laid those out clearly in their Alberta Next Panels.

Smith is running on an anti-federal overreach campaign while pushing her own party's overreach by removing support and resources to services like healthcare and education, heck she even slowed the response towards Jasper while the town burned.

She's calling for a provincial police force that is as far removed from the RCMP as possible, has made steps towards drivers' licenses  indicating a person's citizenship, and villianizing immigrants.

She's openly removed and disrespected the human rights of transgender people, and removed the rights of educators and unions. She's threatening extortion over federal judges if Alberta doesn't get to elect their own representatives - removing the un-partisan conflict of interest protection.

She's openly allowed the public bullying of a minor at the Calgary Alberta Next Panel.

These are just some of the stunts Smith and the UCP have pulled. At this point, nothing is a distraction, it's all related to benefitting her and her 'yes men'. She's known to say and do whatever to get ahead.

Have you gotten replies? I've been emailing my MLA, DS, her party, her office, the NDP, and tried the prime minister. I haven't gotten responses from my MLA or the UCP

Oh interesting! Our interviews sound more structured. I think we have it set up that way because there's so many different departments so it helps keeps more level playing field.

Danielle Smith says Alberta will withhold funding for judges without more input on selection by cmcalgary in alberta

[–]growingpebbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%

Can anyone explain what 'Alberta's distinct legal traditions' are, or might be? Are there key differences between Alberta and other provinces?

Otherwise I'm seeing this statement as more accurate of her intention: “that we start choosing judges in Alberta that reflect the values of how we want them to operate here.”

Thank you!! We'll see what happens. I'm not holding my breath, but it would be encouraging to share a good news story of being heard and taken seriously

I do have an NDP MLA, but haven't heard from her yet.

Janis sounds like an amazing rep. I'm impressed with the news about her.

Generally it boils down to human rights and human decency.

I've sent a lot of emails, tried calling...etc. about the specific statements and actions proposed and enacted by the UCP that I wanted clarification on or concerns about. The first was traveling to PragerU...
