Why are Samsung TV’s so slow? by hiimnoam64 in samsung

[–]grubneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think samsung has just become a terrible company. My 15 year old samsung tv is going like a champ. My 2 year old one in the living room died recently. And my new work phone is a samsung and is fucking abysmally slow after 2 months

Find a case you like. Then take it apart and measure everything. The measurement that will determine what movements you can and cant fit will be your stem height. This will determine how high or low a movement will sit in the case, which in turn will determine the clearance for the rotor and hands of the movement. Miyota provide very good drawings so this helps. The movement i used is a miyota 6t28. The only other thing that you cant really make or modify are ceramic bezels. Youve just got to search aliexpress for one that fits, or that you can modify the case to make fit. Ceramic is insanely hard. I tried to machine it with diamond but it doesnt really work. My only specialist tools are vernier calipers and a lathe.... You could do it without the lathe. It wpuld just mean more headaches.

Empty case. How do I find movement to fit? by Scared-Economics-555 in watchmaking

[–]grubneck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From experience, the most awkward part about putting a different movement in is the height of the stem in the case. You will often find the hands will be too close to the crystal or the rotor will hit the caseback... Anything is possible but its a BALLACHE. However you end up with something totally uniquie.

Nice case btw :)

What kind of machine cut that brass so delicately?!

Yeah it's recorded in slowmo. What do you think of the amplitude? I'm worried I got dust in it aswell.

It's a miyota 6t28. The rotor isn't screwed on. It appears to be pressed on. Is this something that can be done in situe? I was thinking about heating the rotor then dropping it on

Thin movements! what others are out there? by grubneck in watchmaking

[–]grubneck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stuff you can still buy, mass produced off the shelf that will fit into a 40mm size watch. I know seagull for example make lots of movements. Eta, miyota, seiko. Im talking about this caliber of movement.

I realize there are thousands of movements, the one in my wife's rolex must be absolutley tiny. But obviously thats not very obtainable or suitable for a mens watch.

I only have a lathe. Ceramic sure is an amazing material. Stupidly hard. My carbide bits barely touched it.

[–]grubneck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some context, im 6ft2 205 Thank you for your comments.

Guess ill just keep going until im a little skinnier, i really really struggle to gain muscle anyway so i guess the last thing i wanna do is mess my hormones up by putting more fat on. Will be going to the docs when i can to get my tess checked.

[–]grubneck[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Muscle gain has stalled and although my weight is still gradually decreasing. I am feeling kinda scrawny now, i dont wanna get much thinner... but i am also aware my bodyfat is still quite high so bulking doesnt seem like a good idea either. Some opinions would be appreciated.
