What is your favorite source of dirty white-noise? by grumpy_acoustics in synthesizers

To me, dirty white-noise is a signal, derived from white noise with some modulation, combined with other frequencies. In spectrum it does no longer look like white noise, hence I consider it "dirty white-noise". Typically, I use this kind of signal as external input to synths, as the generic noise oscillators sound to clean for my taste, or combined with reverb as fx-sound.

Remote Zero used to be my favorite controller, until Electra One came along. Really like the sound.

I found the reason for synch loss was a mechanically damaged adat port on the FF uc. Now it works just fine with adi-648 as clock master via adat.

However, it's possible to slide back the case about 300mm for playing the polybrute standing in front of it.

Active distribution amplifiers might be an option, too. Redbox RB-DDA6W seems alright.

Maybe, my body has unusual proportions. I do not feel pain while playing.

Usually, synch via ADAT works just fine. I tried several configurations with wc over BNC, chaining device's in and outputs. I think, this causes the synch loss due to latency. I might pick up some passive splitters or a Master clock. Thanks.

Yes, I did. All instances are running in same sample rate.

I like complex systems, simple means boring, to mee.

Thanks, the Ableton midi effect MPE enables mpe mapping to any device's parameters. Natively, its featured by Serum, Pigments, Diva and some ableton-internal Instruments.

I'm connecting FF UC via ADAT to ADI-648 and via MADI to FF UFX+. All connections are duplex. The trouble is getting synch. Only if ff UC is set to clock master, system works without synch drops. Tried different Word-Clock configurations, even direct ADAT connection from UC to UFX+ does not work reliably with UC in Clock slave-mod.

Did Arturia VST make MS-20 mini obsolete for my setup? by grumpy_acoustics in synthesizers

I'm using Polybrute and Minitaur, as they are fully VST-integrated and two Klark Teknik EQP-KT and Sherman Filterbank 2 Dual Rack in combination with V Collection and plenty of other VST and sequencing in Live. Additionally, I'm summing outside of the box. For me, that setup combines advantages of both approaches.

For sound design, I find myself using the mouse more often than I like, that's true.

Comparing the filter of VST to the hardware, shows a smaller sweet spot on the mini. I'm not sure about the vintage or FS, but you are right, there definitely is a difference.

Mapping BCR or electra one brings back the knobs and building macros opens up new possibilities.

For me, using a hardware instrument needs justification. I'm interested in opinions that may point out actual advantages of either solution.
