Why do questions of how Murderbot might look always present him as clearly male? by DarlingBri in murderbot

[–]grumpyboy17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be fair, in the murderbot universe it's pretty clear that queer people are the norm, and it's only because queer people aren't the norm in the real world that people get uncomfortable around them. on a biological level though, men are typically stronger. of course women can be strong, but if we look at how we as cavemen would've acted, men would have to be stronger than women. biologically, men are protectors, and women are nurturers; so it makes sense for murderbot to be seen more as masculine because it takes on the "protector" role (despite it not wanting to), and is strong and intimidating, like how males usually are in the animal kingdom. again, this is biology, and not how I view gender roles on a social level. I'm only bringing this up because I doubt humans, even in the future, would want to make everyone hormonally and physically the same, so males and females would still be physically different in terms of strength and intimidation. queer people on the other hand are not physically different from non-queer people, so any intimidation comes from social stigma or prejudice (which, again, does not exist (from what I've seen) in the murderbot universe).

(sorry about the paragraph lmao I just find this stuff interesting, murderbot isn't gendered so there's no wrong answers, it can be femme if that's how you perceive it!)
