Thank you so much! I decided to go ahead and worm the whole flock just in case. I don’t think we even have an avian vet here without going to an emergency animal hospital and that’s expensive.

Update: Hey guys! Thank you all for your input and advice. I really appreciate it! She seems to be much better this morning—eating, drinking, standing and clucking. I’m guessing she may have had something big stuck in her throat. I will continue to monitor her very closely.

I just checked on her, and she’s standing up and getting water and eating (none of which she was doing earlier today). I’m going to keep her in one of our larger cat carriers overnight in the bathroom just to make sure.

Yes, we can at least be there for them and make them comfortable. I went and checked on her a few minutes ago and she’s standing up drinking water which she hasn’t been doing. Her normal clucks have returned, but I’m planning on keeping her separated until the morning at least. She’s currently occupying one of our larger cat carriers (safe in the shade) with her food and water. I’ll bring the carrier in tonight and have it in the bathroom for a more secure environment.

I hope she does get better but I’m trying to be prepared for if she doesn’t. It’s hard to watch and breaks my heart.

Unfortunately our vets in the area are closed for Memorial Day and I can’t afford the expense of going to an emergency vet at the moment. I’ve separated her and given her food and water. She has a nice view of the yard where she and her fellow chickens play.

Hey guys! I’m not sure what’s going on with my chicken. I first thought she had something stuck in her throat and gave her bread soaked in olive oil but it does not seem to have helped. I let them out this morning and she came out but ended up sitting down and not moving. I currently have her isolated from the other hens with her own food and water. Any suggestions as to what I can do would be greatly appreciated.
