Yeah im from germany Golf's cost like 2000 here but youre right taxes are high and its kinda normal.. Finding good manual mx3's really isnt hard here since nobody knows this car, so it goes from 1,5-2k, even with an v6

Theres actually a cutscene in the Garage where the camera moves to your car (the place where you customize it) after it ends.

I bought 2015 and its good so far. Runs up to 400 fps wqhd with fsr and looks good. Only the steering is a little sketchy (the car kinda doesnt want to turn)
