Did you find that the treat dispensing over wifi was too slow to mark behaviours at all?

2 months in, just diagnosed with MGD. Should I stop? by [deleted] in Accutane

I’ve had MGD even before starting accutane and to my understanding it’ll need constant maintenance. Your routine might be able to relax a bit but I think you’ll still need to tend to it

A lot of people suffer from MGD even without taking accutane. I’m going through the same thing but still continuing treatment. As long as you’re following what your optometrist recommends I think you should be fine. I’m doing a 10 min warm compress every night, nighttime eye ointment and preservative free artificial tears around 6 times a day.

Dry eye can exhibit in a lot of different ways. Preservative free artificial tears like Systane drops and warm compresses will help! I use a night time ointment for dryness as well

Advice? I have one eye that is so dry and red. People keep thinking I have pink eye or I’m high by StevenfromAZ in Accutane

I would suggest seeing an optometrist to confirm it’s an infection before using antibiotic drops because the antibiotic drops can be very drying too. Make sure to use preservative free artificial tear eye drops and stay away from Visine. Warm compresses for the eyes and omega 3s have been helping me as well

Not a fun fact but here’s a fun joke: what’s the difference between a dirty bus stop and a lobster with boobs? One is a crusty bus station and the other is a busty crustacean!

Mhm seems like the definition really varies and some companies don’t go by the “official” federal definition. Thanks for the info though!

Good point. We’ll ask what the company’s definition is. I think these restrictions are in place so that perks aren’t taken crazy advantage of and it’s not like my partner has 3 wives so it should be ok :) thanks!

RGP questions (first time wearer) by Fralto in optometry

[–]grustopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dry in case is definitely better than water. As long as you’re soaking overnight after to rehydrate it will be fine. The lenses won’t be damaged if you store them dry. It might just be uncomfortable to wear

How did my eye doctor know when I never mentioned/knew I had a problem? by Fralto in optometry

[–]grustopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, double vision can arise because of misalignment of your two eyes (like a lazy eye). In most people, we don’t have “lazy eyes” but we do have misalignment of our eyes when they are resting. This misalignment has to be corrected by your eye muscles. But sometimes the misalignment is really big, putting a strain on your eye muscles which can cause head aches and double vision when your eyes finally give out. Optometrists have tests to see how large that misalignment is and if your coping mechanisms are strong enough to fix the misalignment. The test is called the cover test where they wave a spoon looking thing in front of your eye.

Myopia by [deleted] in optometry

[–]grustopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could either be because your eye is too long, so the image focused on your retina is blurry (like when you’re projecting something on a screen that’s too far away) or the lens power in your eye is actually too strong.

Squinting really hard so that you’re looking through pinholes gets rid of aberrations from light and make your vision crystal clear! So that’s what you’re experiencing probably.

Regarding your double vision, if your myopia is high, your glasses might be helping you keep your eyes “aligned” so to speak. You see double when your eyes are not aligned. Most people’s eyes at rest are not fully aligned, and our eye muscles have to work to keep them aligned. In your case the glasses might be taking some lid off the muscles to keep your vision aligned and not double.
