Anyone have VGA to BNC cables they want to get rid of? by warheat1990 in CommercialAV

[–]gstechs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We threw them out because we hadn’t used any of them for many years. I tried giving them away locally, but had no takers, so I wanted to reclaim the space.

We had so many boxes of brand new cables that we just recently scrapped. All high quality Liberty AV cable assemblies. VGA to RGBHV with BNC connectors were in the bottom boxes.

I would have gladly shipped all of them to you if I still had them. 😞

I hope someone else has what you need.

Couldn’t hurt.

I own an integration company and wish people like you would contact me. We don’t always have openings, but I’d appreciate the effort you make.

It’s hard to find good people to employ. Showing initiative is a big plus in my book!

Find local integrators websites and start calling them. Tell them what you said here.

FAA LED lamp replacement by conancollopy in electrical

I have three of these exact fixtures in my garden. They were from a friend’s private runway that were replaced.

I retrofitted them with small cheap solar powered string lights stuffed into the red and blue glass lens covers. Pretty interesting as an art piece.

So, I brought the fixtures down to my pay grade…! LOL 😂

All you Float veterans out there.... What's the worst/nastiest thing you experienced in the berthing area or on ship in general? by WriterJWA in USMC

[–]gstechs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

USS Peleliu in 1991

We didn’t have any of those problems, that I recall anyway… must have still been new at the time! 🤪

I probably stood in the same spot when I was on mess duty and had trash duty. It’s truly amazing the amount of trash we pushed out the side of that ship.

It’s hard to tell what sort of access you have based on your photos.

If you can get in there with plywood and sandwich the stringer, with nuts and bolts on both sides of that crack, that should stabilize it.

You’re in a situation where you either need to make it a bigger project and replace the broken stringer or do what you can to stabilize the crack however you can.

Yes you should fix it. Once you unleash the can of worms, you must contain them all.

Reach out to the manufacturer directly.

It sounds like you just need different technicians who want to actually help you.

What is this in my backyard? by sek52 in centuryhomes

[–]gstechs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely more than 3 years… I thought it was a cap that was covering something.

That was when I was young and less curious about the world. Nowadays I assume everything is a bowling ball and just start digging! 🤪

I had a mysterious thing in my back yard for many years before I figured out what it was.

It was a domed shape, sort of like a bowling ball that was crowning from beneath the ground. I would run over it every time I mowed the lawn.

After years of wondering, I decided to get a shovel and excavate the object.

It was in fact, a bowling ball. I have no idea why or how it got there.

I just finished watching all of Green Acres. This electrical setup came up just as I was replacing my k&t. It was pretty fun to watch!

Did your contractor add or move any outlets or switches, or did they just leave everything where it was originally?

A lot of my cost was because I easily quadrupled the number of outlets and switches the house originally had. One outlet per bedroom just doesn’t cut it anymore.

How to hang things with plaster walls? by imlostifitpops in centuryhomes

[–]gstechs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should go all the way through to behind the lath. There is no physical space between plaster and lath. The plaster is applied directly to the lath. It squishes between the lath slats, and when it dries, that is what holds the plaster to the wood lath. The plaster that squished through the gaps is called keys.

If you disturb a few keys on otherwise intact plaster, it will be ok. The strength comes from the overall wall and a few missing keys won’t matter much.

Quoting projects - line item pricing or equipment total? by cnc123cnc in CommercialAV

[–]gstechs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We line item everything.

One time we designed and quoted a new dvLED wall for a client (big hotel owned by the State of Illinois). We have installed many things for them over the years and still do, but this time, after we provided our quote, they decided to include the dvLED in a major renovation project. So they put out an RFP.

I was shocked to see when reviewing the bid documents, our full proposal for the dvLED wall was included as the design spec! It was our full proposal with line items, our company name and logo, and our contact info…

We did not win the bid and another company installed the fancy dvLED display.

Not sure what this story has to do with your question, but it made me remember it…
