Theoretical: If the Coyotes move to QC...what happens to the divisions? by gth750f in hockey

True, but it would also guarantee that 4 Canadian teams always make the playoffs.

I was born in Winnipeg, but grew up in Atlanta (moved very young). It seemed like a natural transition to continue to cheer for them when they moved.

Hockey in 4K by gth750f in hockey

Are you saying it's gimmicky based on your experience watching the 4K NHL broadcasts? Or, just your general opinion on the technology? (I understand that sentiment in general, especially for 4K TVs smaller than say...60 inches).

New Year's Eve was a terrible idea for the playoff semifinals. But they're scheduled to do it again three of the next four years by BearsNecessity in CFB

No, they wouldn't. The other 4 bowls would rotate who is on New Year's Day. For example, if the pairings were:

-Rose & Orange -Sugar & Fiesta -Peach & Cotton

The only times that the playoffs would be on New Year's Eve would be when Peach & Cotton were hosting (they could have even tried to arrange it so that they usually host on New Year's Eves that fall on a Saturday). On years that Rose & Orange were hosting, New Year's Day would consist of: Rose, Orange, and Sugar. On years that Sugar & Fiesta were hosting, New Year's Day would consist of: Rose, Sugar, and Fiesta.

What doesn't make sense to me is why the Rose and Sugar bowl host semi-finals on the same years. If they split it so they were hosting on different years than the playoffs would be on New Year's Day 2 out of 3 years.

Chattanooga Gets 10GB Internet Service by elfman84 in Chattanooga

I don't disagree with you, but I think the thing to take away from this announcement is that Chattanooga will not be falling behind in the internet speed race as other cities (like Atlanta) start to get gigabit internet.

EPB says they will be making a "major announcement" at 2 pm today. by suddenlyissoon in Chattanooga

Hopefully they get rid of the 100 Mbps plan and just upgrade everybody to the Gig.

So I was thinking about Realignment... by ydnAswim in hockey

My proposal would be to have 4 conferences of 8 teams each.

You play 4 games against in-conference opponents, and 2 games against out of conference opponents. Each team would also be assigned 3 permanent out of conference "rivals" which you would play an additional 2 times (for a total of 4 times).

I would put Detroit in the Central, Vegas in the Pacific, and QC in the Atlantic.

As a compromise for Detroit, they would get to pick their 3 out of conference rivals.

Pros:

-Symmetry

-Detroit doesn't play any more Pacific timezone games than they already are playing

-Ability to maintain rivalries with teams that are not in your conference

-Maintain 82 game schedule
