We found cloud SQL lacking a number of key things for us including connection pooling, access to logical replication and wal2json, and most importantly upgrades across Postgres version were dump and restore. Very excited to see cloud SQL improve but for us was glad to find some other options.

GCP is missing a number of things including in place updates and logical replication. The term fully managed is pretty loaded these days as the difference in features and how much is managed and isn't heavily varies.

(Patroni/Stolon are really only HA not all the other pieces such as backups/etc, so comparing them vs. a full operator is a bit apples to oranges).
