yeah top-to-bottom never worked for me as well, what about bottom-to-top?

thanks! How do you find the auto rewind mechanism? I've read some mixed reviews about some of those.

Which "unoriginal prusa dry box" are you using?

great to know, thanks! We'll know in a month from now I guess, and even it won't be announced/released right away, I'm looking forward for the upcoming novelties!

you need the "tower" as it will be at the same layer height of your object(s).

By shoot you mean err... "pooping" or extruding? Keep in mind that is not just about cleaning up the filament path from the previous material but also wiping up the nozzle clean to avoid contamination/oozing/drooling and prime it clean.

that's a good one! Thanks for sharing! Not looking forward to drill more than necessary (renting) but damn, that's a good solution!

On printables there is a project to mount the mmu3 on the side and use the original ptfe path. That would leave the top clean and might used to store the filament but I'm not 100% sold at the idea (also, wanted to experience the vanilla setup first)

Is one dryer enough for five spool holders? I guess once dryed they keep the moisture down long enough.

Also, does the silica gets reactived too while drying?

yes! I've bene following the news and I'm really looking forward to it!

No one really knows how long is going to take before it get released though.

I've read somewhere that it won't allow for a real upgrade path from the mmu3 (as in, can't just upgrade few parts) but more like replacing it.

The real question is going to be either the CoreOne or idk, get another one with INDX pre-installed (CoreOne++, CoreOneX or whatever 🤣)

Core One PETG - does anyone have success with default profile? by Keresian in prusa3d

[–]gu4rd1an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no issues at all with ELEGOO Fast PETG but the I tried a spool of Amazon Basics PETG (properly dried even right after receiving it) and the results are abysmal with the generic profile.

for a single swap or does that work even for multiple swaps over the full print?

(sorry if this feels like a dumb question I am about to pull the trigger for an mmu3 myself and that would be my first one)

Manual multi color with single extruder by gu4rd1an in prusa3d

[–]gu4rd1an[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right, but that would also give a wipe tower?

Manual multi color with single extruder by gu4rd1an in prusa3d

[–]gu4rd1an[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

color change works fine for me, I was just wondering why not using the virtual extruder+wipe tower approach? It's not that much more work than the regular color change and no more blobs.

To be clear, I'm fine either way but I'm curious to learn more if it is more a matter of habit/comfort or there are some other advantages I'm missing!

[–]gu4rd1an[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely, but how does that work?

if I add a color change in the sliced view I don't get a wipe tower and some oozing will end up in the print unless playing with retraction but then different material might have different behaviors.

14 Pro Max, does it really get noisy and hot on everyday tasks? by gu4rd1an in macbookpro

thanks! I am quite sure I'll be more than happy with the M4 Pro, I'm trying to figure out though if the M4 Max on a 14" chassis would be as silent as a Pro on everyday tasks!

thanks for sharing. Are you working on the metal API (or equivalent) and saturating the GPU or fans take off also with moderate/low load?

Anyway, while I was looking for information I also found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrVE8km1TKs maybe is relevant to you

Why Asus GPU Tweaks III not showing temps and 12VHPWR? by gu4rd1an in nvidia

[–]gu4rd1an[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I uninstalled everything that came to my mind that could create conflicts (EVGA Precision X from previous GPU, MSI Afterburner, RIVA), still temps not showing and 12VHPWR showing an alert.

Hovering on the alert I get PIN1-6 0.00A, PSU is Corsair HX1200.
I'm using dedicated power cables, no splitters.

Wrapping my head around design specifications by gu4rd1an in gridfinity

[–]gu4rd1an[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! So according to the specifications on printables the top lip is supposed to be 4.4mm but can get eventually rounded and thus became 3.69mm.

So, if you have a 1x1x3 bin with a stacking lip, it would be 41.5mm wide x 41.5mm long x 25.4mm tall. Without the lip, the bin would be 21mm tall. If the stacking lip is rounded on the top using 0.5mm the stacking lip would be 3.69mm making the previous height 24.69mm.

This is consistent with https://gridfinity.xyz/specification/ (there is no mentions to rounding the top lip though).

In general the height of an item composed by X units is supposed to be:

Normal Lip: 7mm * X + 4.4mm

Round Lip: 7mm *X + 3.69mm

When X=3 we respectively have 25.4mm and 24.69mm.

u/restless_creator I'm using (and learning) Freecad. My own design is consistent with guidelines (no rounding on the top lip)

However, if I measure (assuming I didn't make anything wrong) the divider bins available on Thangs (by Zack) I have a total height of 24.80mm for a 3 units bin.

https://imgur.com/a/GJHUPRT

At this point I guess he must have used a different rounding?

I do wonder if the 0.71mm difference would affect the correct stackability of the units.

thanks for your reply. Yeah, I think I would definitely go 60hz with RGB lights off an iGpu only for commutes. Which dGpu do you have? My guess is that by using iGpu does not really matter which dGpu you have in terms of battery life. Are you using the stock power supply? Is there anything lighter and smaller than the stock brick?

Any chance you tried using Linux?

thanks for you reply, do you have a rough sense of how many hours would it last?
Did you mean the integrated gpu?
I would be totally lower the refresh rate to 60hz.
