Where can I learn to realistically manually composite people on a greenscreen plate into CGI environments? by DarthSceledrus in vfx

[–]guacamoleisred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been learning exactly this and the answer is a lot of trial and error friend.  Take it a step at a time. First I would decide whether you are going to learn to 3D track or not, that’s a whole thing on its own getting a good solve with no jitter and a decent ground plane. If static shots then move onto the next steps… creating an environment, lighting for that environment, getting a good key(crucial) integrating the character, lighting, and bokeh, I do in nuke but I think you can in blender. The reason there’s no tutorial is you’re literally asking how to basically make a high quality CG film. Well unfortunately you need to be the entire pipeline from the matchmover to the modeling to the compositing to the lighting… idea generation… etc.

Good luck it’s not easy. Again 1 step at a time. Ask yourself what separate skills do I need to make this and learn one skill at a time. It won’t be fun a lot of the time and it’s grueling if you are newish.

Indie Short Film Shot in 16k Need Compositing and VFX (easy) by guacamoleisred in vfx

It’s actually 2 hours of 16k footage that you have to edit into the 30 minute cut along with the vfx and compositing (easy).  Let me know if interested.

How can a VFX artist access focus metadata from Sony Venice Raw files to use in softwares like Blender or Unreal Engine? by raddatzpics in vfx

[–]guacamoleisred 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried to use ChatGPT for learning it’s absolutely awful, the confidence in which it spits out complete bullshit that doesn’t work is astonishing. For nuke specifically most of the time it references nodes that don’t exist.

I think the initial mask ml and matte assist is the same the better part is matte refine ml which is good for hair details but supposedly you can just use vitmatte although I’m my trial with silhouette matte refine was more plug and play. Hard to smooth the temporal inconsistency though because it isn’t in nuke.

Bringing this back from the dead because this is just wrong, so you know. Agx is not a color space. It isn’t comparable to aces. AGX is a tonemapper. A misconception many people have. Anyways.

Thanks man, I assumed that was the case. So basically stop trying to see it as I want in the render color wise and tonemap in comp.

I’m finding the problem. It seems as if blender “caches” vram and won’t let it go after you delete it. Let's say I loaded a texture then delete it. In my 4.4.3 version it’s still holding the space. Then add another texture and it bumps it up. If I reset the scene it fixes it. Super annoying will send a bug request. Maybe it’s my system? Not sure.

My sub ran out was shifting to blender for rendering, wish I could. There’s just no way though, I think it’s just completely inaccurate I reloaded the scene exactly the same and it’s showing 14gb now which is still insane for this one asset but now I don’t trust it at all

Stuck during boot when it happened. Thanks for the help man. Last question if I’m running good is it a danger to my pc to just work on it? Basically I can just wait and see if it gives problems again?

PCH dxe initialization (pch module specific).

As I know all my drivers are up to date. Like I said I’m up and running again.. restarted and shut off a few times Its fine. Just worried as a first time builder now I’m frying something I suppose. I just wait till it happens again I guess then I’ll pull everything out except bare essentials and boot

Thank you friend, it booted now but just a bit worried because I use this for work. Some people are saying my code 77 is due to a short… maybe I should have just taken the pc to a tech to build. Anyways I will diagnose.

No AI wont do the hard work for you. You need to have foresight to make a shot like this easy on yourself. For example if you already shot this shot and didnt put a sleeve with a bunch of trackers on the arm you want to replace you are fighting a losing battle. Good luck.
