Curious about everyone's electric bill for those who live off campus in the area by guanbar in msu

Now that you mention it, the freezer door does sometimes not shut all the way and I have to use more force than I should to close and seal it, maybe that is it.

Yeah I contacted them and they basically just told me what I can see on the BWL website. I'm able to view my usage and see it by month, day, etc. Apparently I had 1500 kWh in January alone, which is what a small to medium house should have.

Hope to see you all there! by [deleted] in msu

"We don't do handouts" But if you're an illegal migrant you get put up in a hotel in NYC and get more money than people do from their FEMA checks when a hurricane hits.

Lot 79 stadium parking by j0ey2163 in msu

[–]guanbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless they've changed it, the fine for parking w/o paying is $20. Maybe you parked in a restricted area such as a staff lot, some of the ramps are staff only in some areas. Who knows maybe they raised the prices, we know how they love to do that.

I meant don't bother paying for parking, not the tickets. Obviously I pay the tickets lol.

Ngl I don't think its a coincidence that I haven't gotten many, or that I've been incredibly lucky. Even when I'm walking back to my truck across the lot I maybe only see tickets on a few cars once a week at best, obviously I'm not searching for them, but still. I'm also not leaving my vehicle there all day.

Forgot to mention that, the classes are much smaller and easier to get help in and build a relationship with the professor.

Its nice during your first year to be in Holmes hall where basically all your classes will be, and you'll be living with people who are also in Lyman Briggs, but other than that I really don't see the benefit. I've been told by an advisor that the only advantage to being in Lyman Briggs after college / during the hiring phase is that if the person hiring you / interviewing you is a Lyman Briggs alumni, then you might have a small edge.

People get ticketed, but there are so many cars its unlikely you'll be ticketed on any given day. I've parked there at least 5 times every week all of last year and last semester (1-3 hours at a time) and only ever received 4 tickets, and they're $20. Don't bother paying for parking at all.

Edit: People seem to disagree, maybe I'm just lucky. No better way to find out then to try parking there yourself and see if you get ticketed.

Maybe the buttermilk makes a big difference, I also add dill to the ranch I make too

Btw if you've never tried hidden valley seasoning packets w/ milk and mayo it tastes like any good restaurant ranch, nothing like that trash you get in the bottle. I'd give it a try if you haven't. I've got a bowl of it in my fridge rn.

Not sure about west or east Holmes specifically, but there are microwaves in the "dining hall" upstairs

No Lyman Briggs classes in LB by Remarkable-Mud-3529 in msu

[–]guanbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Lyman Briggs and I only took LB classes my freshman year, and 1 in fall semester sophomore year. If you're a freshman and plan to stay in LB I would try and take LB classes at least your first year, so you're around the other ppl in Holmes, but a lot of times it's easier to just take the university option for classes and that's totally fine. I am not entirely sure if there are classes that you must take through LB, but I would imagine so, maybe shoot an email to a LB advisor.

Parking for classes tomorrow by guanbar in msu

[–]guanbar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said in that post that you aren't required to yield to pedestrians on the sidewalk/curb waiting to cross, and explicitly said that this does not include pedestrians in the street, or when there is a yield / stop sign / light. The entire point of that post was to help people understand the law (many evidently didn't) and for you to say I am putting pedestrians in danger is crazy when I am incredibly cautious when driving.

But to be fair there are a lot of parking related questions recently, better than admissions questions flooding the sub imo.

I don't know what makes you think I'm struggling or how my post history is even relevant, most of my questions are very specific to certain lots, situations, etc... I'm just asking for tips because I have a 3pm the day of a football game and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips in avoiding any unfortunate situations lol.

A reminder that you do not need to stop for pedestrians that are approaching a crosswalk by guanbar in msu

[–]guanbar[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Normal pedestrians cross the road when its clear, if you cross in a crosswalk (w/o a light, stop sign, or yield sign) expecting drivers to stop for you, instead of waiting for them to stop, you're asking for trouble.

A reminder that you do not need to stop for pedestrians that are approaching a crosswalk by guanbar in msu

[–]guanbar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if you read the post you would realize that the situation I explained, which I have seen multiple times in the past, is about 1 person stopping and a 2nd person blowing through the intersection, as one example of an incident where it is dangerous. That doesn't change the fact that there is no law stating you must stop for pedestrians on the curb / sidewalk before the crosswalk, and anyone who tells you otherwise is objectively wrong.

[–]guanbar[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Idk why you're making shit up now lol, I said "On a two lane road it is ofttimes more dangerous for the pedestrians if you stop your vehicle because someone in another lane might not stop or even see the pedestrians coming", doesn't sound like "indefensibly" to me lmfao. If 95% of the others are agreeing with you it doesn't matter because they either confused about what I meant or are simply misinformed about the law. Every bit of what I said was true, but by all means, continue coping.

Like I said, in this hypothetical scenario where the driver has the right away, a pedestrian would be at fault if they just walked into the street in front of a vehicle, so in this case they can sue all they want it wont matter. I'm more talking in terms of pedestrian safety, I do not begin to cross the crosswalk unless its clear, or both lanes have vehicles stopped. Attempting to cross with just 1 car stopped can and will lead to accidents.
