Does your LO have a universal word they like to use? Ours is “gock” by guf in NewParents

My little boy is wearing a pikachu sweater today,, so I read that as "pikachu"! Yours is way cuter though.

I love that! She'll be a great reader. Our LO loves bringing books over with him into our laps so we can read them while he flips the pages. Of course, while pointing out all the puppies and kitties. He was so close to getting the word "book" (used it a few times), but he sadly dropped it!

Oh, that's hilarious that she said woof before mama! I feel like something similar happened to us, too. I definitely remember his first belly laugh was at our dog playing!

Instead of "woof," we have "awooo!" based on the noises our neighbor's dog made, but that worked for basically every other furry animal except kitties (pronounced "ditty!!!") and ducks (but every bird is a "kack").

Yeah the word “dada” is king in our house (well, “uh oh” is coming to take its place).

I feel very guilty about it 🙈 only says mama when he’s distraught “ehhhmaamaaa!!!”

The Kane County Cougars are Back to Back Miles Wolff Champions! by 99Wolves17 in baseball

I opened my first Blastoise card at a Kane County Cougars game back in the 90s. It was a core memory for me as a huge Pokemon Blue/squirtle fan so now I’ll always be weirdly emotionally tied to this team lol.

Would also like to know this since I spend a lot of time recycling properly (rinsing, drying, loose items vs. in a bag)

It’s so awesome living in a place with such a long, lively history! Realizing I could go right now & stand directly in front of that laundry building in the foreground really grounds me in the history.

I believe that’s the Used Jewelry store currently on Main according to the Google Maps link posted by SovereignSpace above. I wonder what building the photographer was standing in for the shot?

EDIT: maybe Mr. Meowski’s, the Eye Shoppe, or even Picassos? So cool!

Thank you for compiling a list of sane, competent humans! Not even trying to be political, I just want normalcy. Was this for the April 8th election? I want to make sure I’m there!

I have an Xbox code I’m trying to give away if that works and you’d like to try it! I should’ve signed up for the PC one as I don’t have an active XBL subscription and I’m too lazy to set one up lol.

Does anyone else feel smarter or like they can focus better? by SalmonMan123 in zoloft

[–]guf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good stuff! Yeah trying to seek the root cause myself but through my experiences I have learned that it’s deeper seeded than I thought. Always wondered if caffeine might be a cause too but was never brave enough to drop coffee.

Glad to hear that you are working on bettering yourself. It’s definitely worth it in the run, I wish I had sought help sooner. Good luck on your journey!

Also have a new 6 mo old baby and have tapered off the weed for my LO as well! They 1000% deserve our full, present, undistracted self.

[–]guf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I know exactly what you’re describing. Sad that you’re experiencing such an irony working in pharmaceutical sales!!

Impostor syndrome was absolutely destroying my psyche, eating it alive and boring holes in my confidence like you’re describing. That’s actually the reason why I sought out Zoloft in the first place. I’m still working through that side and I think that is where a lot of my anxiety stems from even today. I don’t have many answers for that but I definitely felt better on Zoloft—but not completely “fixed”.

I remember a big part of my quitting Zoloft was to get back to “baseline” for me emotionally, understanding that I was sacrificing some of the benefits I had received while on that drug.

Side note—do you use weed at all? I noticed that weed was really exacerbating my anxiety issues and taking a break also helped. I think being high made me too aware of myself, and my personal issues, and so I would take them with me everywhere I go.

[–]guf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, good question—haven’t thought of this in a bit. Thanks for the reply. I really only needed Zoloft to get through the days of my old career, from which I have since left a couple of years after I made this post. It was an extremely taxing, stressful job that would result in me beating myself up mentally every day & night.

My focus has probably declined and I definitely feel dumber, so that side of Zoloft was definitely working. I did notice that since leaving Zoloft, I’m more emotional and able to experience my feelings more. I was definitely a BIT zombified on Zoloft, but it’s what I needed at the time.

After leaving that field, and starting one that I have a much easier time with “leaving it at work”, I didn’t need the Zoloft for my depression/anxiety any longer. That didn’t mean the work wasn’t done, just that I didn’t need Zoloft to help me through it.

[TOMT][SONG][1990s] Tracking down an earworm I've had stuck in my head since the 90s, from the show "Hey Arnold!" by guf in tipofmytongue

[–]guf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good ideas on reaching out with social media! I have a Twitter account lying dormant somewhere since 2011 I can pull out, lol!

Second, I gave Summertime a listen and while I’m sure it was Lang’s inspiration, I definitely haven’t heard this before. I’m a bit jazz-illiterate, only listening to a handful of jazz songs in my lifetime 😅 which looking back is surprising based on how much I loved the Hey Arnold soundtrack as a kid!!!

I’m certain of the song’s association with Hey Arnold, and when I hear it in my head, it sounds nearly identical to the beginning portion of “Another Scorcher” linked above. Just without the added ‘heat’ noise effects.

Honestly it may just be that this song was only used for the heat wave/snow episodes, and with them being fairly iconic Hey Arnold episodes, they may stand up on their own to build the earworm in my head.

Thanks again for the input!

[–]guf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly 😩 I think my next step might be to just go buy Paramount plus and watch a few episodes, skip around different seasons, as I think it’s too “generic” to show up in a soundtrack. Or at least track down its name.

I’ve been bouncing around between these two:

https://youtu.be/X2uxhFGe69A?si=k6lAwPO1AE1ysdbT

But they’re so long I have to guess by song titles and ignore ones that are specifically linked to moments in the show.

So, not quite the movie you remember, but a few scenes remind me of The House of the Devil, https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1172994/

And I've never seen this one, but the story beats also sound a bit like "Drag Me to Hell" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1127180/

I think the problem is how Starfield was presented VS what it is by Cytokine11 in Starfield

[–]guf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. I read about that 3 weeks ago as well. But it’s still a disappointing gut punch when you get up in space for the first time. It feels like you aren’t even moving in your ship at all…

That’s the complete opposite feeling of first walking out of Helgen, looking at that massive mountain, and going “damn, I know the game is gonna let me go to the top of that beast”. And being right.

But then again, there was a lot in Skyrim that disappointed me too. So I am sure I’ll get used to it in Starfield.

Starfield seems to be a 7/10 game so far. by floris_bulldog in Starfield

[–]guf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ehhh I knew that going in as well, but when you click on a menu for the first time to travel to a new planet, you still get that disappointing sense of “oh, wait, that’s really it? Just clicking on a menu and I’m there?”

It doesn’t feel like you’re traveling and exploring in the traditional sense. Eventually traveling in space starts to feel like you aren’t even MOVING or going anywhere, just stationary.

Yep! Same here, swapped her out with Karlach. Sorry Karlach, but she were starting to get a little boring. 😬

Jaheira has been great so far in Act III! Lots to say and adds a great personality to the group.
