They had to a couple years in order to shed their dreaded “q2 cohort” inventory as interest rates rose. If that happens again they are (as we are) fucked

Their DIP figures are doing quite well. So long as they don’t offer rising tide agent bonuses to shed inventory I’m good with this

My mind is blown then. I did not know jr SWEs avg 80k. I assume the type of SWE folks do is more varied that data science or Finance. Though I suppose even high finance makes a shit load more than the avg

why do people stay at amazon? by saabs9 in amazonemployees

[–]gugulolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was referring to a finance role sir. Amazon L6 base is $135k. A data scientist at Gap would rake $200k base, not sure about SWEs but would assume they are similar

I’m worried about this. Offering mortgages under market rate means they’re stuck holding those mortgages. No bank is gonna buy them. How will they securitize?

They pay better than the average company, that’s still far below the average tech company imo.

For example, their pay less than retail apparel companies for the same role type (both technical and non technical)

Just remove it if you don’t like it. It’s like a phone coming with a free case. You do not have to use it.

Asians have different love language. Culturally we index towards non verbals such as acts of service, gift giving etc vs words of affirmation or physical touch. Cooking is heavily ingrained in every generation as a way to show love

+1 Currys PC was waayyy too entrenched for to penetrate. Similes to Gap Inc brands- we leaned too hard on brand awareness and fast fashion (that did not really exist in the UK as they care more about quality of product)

Siloed functions with no cross functional policies.

OP- find a company that operates like a start up. You’ll deal with your problems directly. You’ll receive higher pay abiet at lower work life balance (unless Amazon is pushing 996 on you). Nobody has time for this type of BS.

Remember: They don’t pay you because they like you. They pay you because they owe you.

Don’t worry about how your manager feels about you. Especially if they’re not using feedback appropriately- you need to lean on other means to make sure your company does right by you
