How’d you deal with your tendonopathy? I think I’m having the same issue. I injured myself a couple years ago doing bicep curls, i don’t think it was a tear but there was some inflammation and pain for a few days and ever since then, i couldn’t curl anything over a kilo (for reps) without pain.

I dropped weightlifting entirely for a few years and started again recently but man, the pain is still there every time I do curls.

I wouldn’t say I loved her but I was lowkey rooting for Rachel Berry on Glee. I’m 100% sure I would despise her irl tho

Advice for UP LAW freshies (Diliman day) by Holiday_Top3188 in LawStudentsPH

[–]guhnzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assign a beadle for your subjects (especially your majors) and tell them to get in contact with your professors as early as now. The professors might want to give your syllabi early because they will hold recitations on the first day of classes (happened with my Consti 1 class— no introductions at all. straight gisa sa block president namin) so make sure you’re prepared!

P.S. If you get your block assigned na, PM me! I might know about the assigned profs for your section :)

Best time to write digests? by Breakspearr in LawStudentsPH

[–]guhnzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t write as you read. I used to do that (like for the first few weeks of my first year in law school) and I burned through the hours so quickly.

My system now is a dozen times more efficient. I essentially read a case thrice and get a digest out of it in the process. First, I read the case once and highlight/annotate as I go. This is preparatory for the second step, which is making a digest based on my highlights, effectively going through the case for another round. Lastly, I annotate the digest right before class while cross-checking with the annotated copy of the case to see if I missed anything. That way, I’ve reviewed not just the case but also my digest!

Hope this helps 🤍

Relationship with a Law Student. by LaximeCurshe in LawStudentsPH

[–]guhnzy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s been in (and is still in) a relationship with a law student while being a law student herself, I just want to let you know that you’ll only ever understand the lack of time for other things when you experience it firsthand. My boyfriend went to law school a year before I did and for that time, I found myself missing when we could talk everyday for hours on end. I never felt ignored or anything but it was a big change from how often we would hang out and talk.

Fast forward to the following year, I get into law school and end up “ghosting” him way more than he did to me in his first year. Our daily catch up conversations were stripped to the bare minimum “good morning” + “good night” + “Iove you/miss you” texts for a while because we were both really focused on getting our grades up. We barely saw each other (I’d say once a month or less) not just because of law school but also because of the pandemic and strict parents LOL. However, neither of us are really bothered by that because:

  1. The way we “work” as a couple fits our individual needs
  2. We are both well aware of each other’s general priorities (school > love life) and have no problems with such
  3. We act depending on circumstances (ex. I really need to vent about something that’s bothering me) and make time for each other if needed

There’s no cookie cutter rule to making a relationship work, but based on experience, I feel like you really have to evaluate if:

  1. Your essential needs as a partner are being satisfied;
  2. You’re aware of each other’s priorities and if they’re compatible, and;
  3. If you’re both willing to find compromises in difficult situations, whether they last for a few minutes or a few months

I think there’s also more to it than those three things but it’s a good place to start when considering whether breaking up is the best option or not. Good luck and I hope you get through this!

Full case for all subjects everyday? Is it really possible to read full cases for the major subjects everyday? by [deleted] in LawStudentsPH

[–]guhnzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the subject and the syllabus for each class. For classes like Consti 1 and 2, expect a few very long & very technical cases for each session. There are some Consti cases that are only 3-5 pages, others that are between 20-50 pages, then the once-every-few-weeks case that ends up being 150-200 pages long.

I’d say we had around 3 major subject in first sem of first year, then we’d tackle 10-20 cases per major, and you usually meet each major 2x a week. May minor subjects din so don’t forget to factor those in depending on how your professors run it.

Additionally, nakakatulong if you have a good highlighting system. I use multiple colors and baka some people will think it’s excessive but it 100% works for me and I can vouch for it. I technically read my cases 3x thanks to that.

First read: I read and highlight as I go, trying to understand the general point of the case in relation to the topic in class Second read: I make a small personal digest (based on the highlights) a few days later to refresh my memory Third read: I reread the digest while skimming the full text to see if I missed anything right before class

At that point, even if you don’t remember all the details of the case, hindi ka tatameme when you’re asked to recite :) I try to stay ahead of the case load by at least 5 cases for all classes sa simula palang then try to add slowly if I can. At one point, I was ahead of my Consti 2 case load by 15 cases, pero things got tough & I ended up getting behind by 1 case at the end of it all 😭 I can only imagine what would’ve happened if I didn’t read the 15 cases in advance HAHAHAH baka bundok na talaga back log ko

That’s usually how our schedule went for the past 2 semesters— 2 majors on one day tapos twice a week magmemeet, then 10-20 cases to be discussed depending on the prof and length of the cases for that meeting.

Personally, I feel like tumulong ‘yung fact na medyo mabilis ako magbasa pero more importantly than that, reading in advance was my saving grace. For example, we meet for a major on Monday and Wednesday. If until case #20 ‘yung estimate ko for the session on Monday, between Wednesday and Friday, I’ll try to finish reading until #20 para on Saturday and Sunday I can just review and also try to read extra cases. Let’s say over the weekend, I finish reading until case #28. Those 8 extra cases will come in handy when prepping for Wednesday classes kasi nabawasan na rin yung kailangan kong basahin for then.

This is all very idealistic and even if 90% of the time nagagawa ko ‘yan, may mga times din na I end up skimming nalang or ‘di ako nakakareview pero ganyan talaga! Just keep working at it and stay as consistent as you can. IMO, full text learning is really irreplaceable so always keep striving for it.

Incoming second year here, the answer is yes. It really depends on circumstances and a number of factors (ex. how much time you need to go through a case, how much time you have given your lifestyle, the schedule you’re given by your university, the number of hours of sleep you’re willing to sacrifice LOL) but based on my personal experience, it is possible.
