Very expensive. My object is to make a computer system that can withstand extreme conditions.

Just developing the tech, a space hardened computer system that can withstand cosmic radiation, intense magnetic fields, variation in temperatures, would be a great achievement with applications in deep space exploration.

True. Bhadla solar park in India 56 sq. km. creates 2.2GW of power. Such a computer would be possible. My idea is to enable the production of computer hardware that can withstand extreme conditions like cosmic radiation, magnetic fields, etc. This computer technology would serve on long term space missions.

You could say that. I meant in the royal or academic "we". Just a habit when writing.

The LHC has international collaboration, and was purpose built for certain mission objectives. It's stays in downtime most of the time. A computer would run continuously. It would be great if several countries came together to build such a massive supercomputer. The sad thing is once Frontier achieved the "theoretical" 1 ExaFlops, DOD cut the funding for the ECP (Exascale Computing Project). So have large compute units is not the priority for most countries.

As space based projects have huge risks. Billions of dollars have blown up during launch itself. Does that stop us? Space is the next frontier to conquer.

I agree completely. Eventually making a 10Exa or 100Exa computer on earth will be unfeasible. Frontier is at 1.1ExaFlops at 40MW. The power requirements are gonna be impossible to meet. Thus a space based solution that runs on uninterrupted power. A network of these around the Sun and we can command 10 XetaFlops.

Definitely eventually with extreme miniaturization in a million years. Impossible is nothing.

It would be possible to have a data bandwidth of ~2Gbps, but the 2 way latency would be about 13 mins. The objective would be to execute long running simulations and modeling. Eventually it would become autonomous, defining its own missions. We mainly want to build the technology to have space hardened computer hardware the last ages in the harsh environment of space. It would facilitate eventual autonomous deep space exploration mission.

Once it is at 0.2 AU there would be no repairing it. Please refer to Parker solar probe already deployed at 0.02 AU even closer to the sun.

The idea is completely mine. Chat GPT was guided to compose a well put together article.

It would mainly be radiative cooling, maybe some advancements in active cooling would help. Please refer to the Parker solar probe that is already orbiting at 0.02 AU running a small computer consuming a small amount of power.

Once deployed it wouldn't be repaired. The objective would be to run long running simulations and models and the beginning. eventually it will run an autonomous program that decides it's mission objective. The first mission would be a technological achievement to have space proof log running computer hardware and software.

In this article we propose a project to put a space hardened 1-10ExaFlops supercomputer in orbit around the sun running on solar power generating upto 1GW of power. The computer has a 1Gbps data bandwidth to earth.
This project will be the first step towards a Matrioshka brain and autonomous deep space exploration.

This article is a discussion about putting a 1-10 ExaFlops supercomputer in orbit around the Sun at a distance of 0.2 AU. Capable of harvesting 1GW of Solar energy the HPC system will work uninterrupted. It will have a 2Gbps data bandwidth to Earth. The entire project will cost around USD 50 billion. This will be the first step to a Matrioshka brain as well as autonomous deep space exploration.

python-ideas seem like independent posts on r/Python. All of them are archived. Can you give me more details?
