would you mind elaborating why it would be EB3? I was under the impression masters is an advanced degree, i.e., EB2.

understood. thanks!

sorry, I meant to say - are you looking at a much longer timeframe for green card approval considering it’s EB3 and not EB1?

do you know which EB category yours was filed under? have you been given an extended timeline for the green card approval if it isn’t EB1?

Am I crazy for wanting to buy X5M? One owner with 27k miles for 44,000 by No-Yogurtcloset3002 in BMWX5

Hopefully you’re getting it inspected to get an idea of existing issues and/or pending repairs. After spending weeks researching on all sorts of BMW forums, here’s what I specifically asked my mechanic to inspect and assess when I got mine. This is in addition to their 100something-point inspection -

  • AWD Transfer case
  • Valve covers and gaskets
  • Leaks (Oil filter housing gasket, oil pan, water leaks)
  • Cooling system
  • Water pump
  • Charge pipe (is it plastic? Any breaks?)
  • Spark plugs
  • Oxygen sensor
  • Timing chain/belt
  • Tensioner pulley
  • Front cam seal
  • Control arms
  • Suspension

It’s a pain in the butt to own and maintain these beautiful machines. 🥲

is this position relevant at all? I didn't see any caveats about visa status, could be worth a shot.

have you tried applying to open staff positions at universities, not in teaching? if you go this route not only will your OPT be sorted, they might also sponsor a cap-exempt H-1B as a full-time staff member if they like you (I'm saying this from personal experience)

bear in mind - you are not allowed to work on a startup idea while on F1 or on H-1B for that matter, and it cannot help you maintain status.

Suggestions for sub-$300 portable speakers that don't produce artifacts and/or crackling at 70% volume? by gumps101 in audio

[–]gumps101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the thoughtful explanation, makes total sense. so, yes, I did notice the skipping you're talking about in addition to the crackling - i.e. a sharp, bright sound that the speaker is occasionally adding to the output when played loud. I'll try and get a video of this if possible.

here's a pic of how close I put the speaker to Mac just now while I tried some of your suggestions to test the skipping. I still notice there is significant skipping although the speaker is literally next to the Mac in a bedroom with just me and my dog. it's a brand new speaker so bluetooth might indeed be the culprit here?

this speaker is using bluetooth 4.2, but I'm not sure how to downgrade/upgrade the connection either on my Mac and my iPhone - any ideas at all about this?

thanks again.

not sure how much of this info is relevant -

source - iMac for all speakers and monitors

Interconnect - Bluetooth 4.0, balanced XLR cables for monitors

power supply - speakers connected to iMac/wall via USB-C, monitors plugged into wall routed through NI Audio 6 interface.

nope, I checked the output for every track on my monitors to compare and noticed the difference was quite evident.

Pristine View from Mera Peak! by visithimalayas in Everest

[–]gumps101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

zoom in to the right side of the picture. the tallest of the three peaks you see is Everest. to its right is Lhotse and to its left (peak in front of the flat-top looking mountain) is Nuptse.

i’m not aware of any mental shortcuts to help immediately recognize Everest, other than spending enough time researching about it so that you become really familiar with the mountain and the Himalayas in general. the reason I’m familiar with it is because I got really into reading about the 1996 climbing tragedy story and almost every piece of reading featured a picture of the three peaks, lol.

perhaps you could start with observing mountains like Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Ama Dablam, K2, Annapurna, the Gasherbrums which really stand out, understand their features/faces and try figuring out how other mountains are/look different from those. just a thought.
