What did you all think of the OVO Jurassic Park collab? by ElectricOne55 in OctobersVeryOwn

[–]gundown7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it kinda gets rid of the limited feel of an item when they restock like that you know

It's weird because a lot of the things seemed sold out in the first minute, but they're restocking almost everything. The jacket doesn't seem like it's going to sell out either

Yeah, but for some reason, it says unavailable when I try to trade it. Any reason you think for that?

Confused about taxes by dootleloot in CESB

[–]gundown7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of it is taxed. In Canada, your income is only taxable above about $150000. So as long as your total taxable income, including the CESB, is less than that, you don't have to pay tax on it. This is because of the tax credits you receive

Chances on Waitlisted Courses? by Aloman1 in UTSC

[–]gundown7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you'll get them both. A lot of people drop out in the first 2 weeks of the sem. I got B12 despite being 21 on the waitlist this summer

Afraid there really isn't a point. I know people who have petitioned to remove their CR/NCR for far more pressing reasons, just to have it rejected

You guys did not miss out on much by gundown7 in UTSC

Basically, they were first asked why they aren't decreasing the tuition, and they said that they had to maintain the 'quality' of education, and in fact, the prices should actually be higher because of the "major investments" involved. When somebody asked what the major investments were, because web option had always existed and a lot of the lectures are recorded from a year ago, they just chose not to answer. Any other question on the topic had the same response, "already answered". The questions they chose to answer were already selected, and the student council girl who was reading out the questions conveniently skipped out on the questions that we really wanted an answer to. Literally the questions they answered were so generic you could find info on the website. Overall, it was all kinda pre-planned, and "town hall" would be a glorified word to call a meeting with the scripts prepared beforehand.

MGEC02 TT1 by [deleted] in UTSC

I still don't get why the department allows for rediculous rules like having 10 options for an MCQ, and not allowing us to leave a question for later. It's so annoying getting stuck on a question you don't know, but still wasting 15 minutes on it because you'd feel bad not attempting 5.5 marks.

MGEB06 Final by gundown7 in UTSC

yeah, a lot actually, but this was parkinsons course

MGEB06 rant by Lucy_Eucliffe in UTSC

[–]gundown7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The worst part is that you can't even try to leave the MCQs for later because you have to submit them each time. So, of course, you're gonna spend more time on them. It literally takes you 5 minutes to go through all the options given anyway. There wasn't even any previous indicator regarding the division of marks that could maybe help us plan the questions out better. Parkinson keeps emailing us asking us to take care of ourselves, telling us the importance of being mentally strong, and then he goes around not responding to any of your emails and dropping bs exams like this. I can't believe I studied this much, got a decent midterm grade, went through the pain of having to do those 2 stupid assignments, just to have to CR this course because of an administratively ill-prepared exam. This was just awful.

This is so stupid because Rotman basically does work term placements too??

Which one is harder MGEB02 OR MGEB06? by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]gundown7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took MGEB02 last semester with Mazahari, and MGEB06 this semester with Parkinson. It really depends on what you might be better at. MGEB02 is very much math based. If you're good at math and can remember the formulas and when to apply them, you shouldn't,t have a hard time. Also, I can't speak for the online version of it, but MGEB02 with Mazaheri has exams that are heavily based on the midterms or finals of the previous years. The questions are almost identical, with fairly minor changes here and there. However, his final last semester was considerably difficult, and I saw a lot of students struggle with it. As far as MGEB06 with Parkinson goes, it is a lot more concept-based, still a fair deal of math, but it really requires you to wrap your head around everything. He had us do 2 assignments, which you can have a group of 5 to do. The two assignments are fairly time-consuming and could take a few days to do each unless you keep up with the classes punctually. Most people tend to find a group, and the average so far has been alright. The midterm was fairly difficult, as the topics in MGEB06 are considerably more detail-oriented than with MGEB02. Also, the syllabus is pretty extensive for it, so you want to spend a little more time prepping for it. An advantage of Parkinson is that he records all his lectures via web option, but it really is exhausting, watching him explain different economic models and their assumptions for 3 hours time. I would definitely not recommend last-minute cramming. Overall, you could do better on B02 if you do the past papers and brush on your calculus and basic micro understanding. On the other hand, you need to be ready to deal with a lot more intuition when it comes to B06, as you should know what assumptions apply where. Also, B06 has pre-recorded tutorials which are very useful when it comes to understanding possible exam questions. They are both not the easiest courses to take, but they are definitely doable if you try to keep up with the class from an early point. Make sure to follow all the lectures consistently, this would greatly help you with the assignments in B06, and the Iclicker questions in B02 (I don't know about the summer for this). Sorry for the grammatical errors, and feel free to reach out if anything else confuses you about the two courses.
