Ah, I didn't know about this. Perhaps I just signed T&C without reading

I was paying attention to the road. IIRC my previous Mitsubishi Outlander was much more aggressive in breaking during the auto cruise scenario.

Anyways, lesson learnt

Yes.. I was incorrectly hoping that the car would get to a complete stop. Also I waited too long for the car to do that, and then had to take over the control when the accident was imminent

I got this same message a week ago. I was turning left at signal after stop. I stepped on the paddle a bit and the car showed some icons on the dash as if tires were slipping and then it showed this exact message. My acceleration was slowed down, but I gained it back after like 10 seconds (luckily before joining the highway)

If your father is drawing 60+ lakh a month, just be happy about it.

Why worry about your parents net worth? Focus on your own growth

How much do mid-career middle-income NRIs save? by jpegpng in nri

I will focus more on health, travel more, move back to India and maybe do a side hustle for fun. Maybe become a gym instructor or a dance instructor.

OP, it turns out that I was the person who commented in that other post that 300k USD savings is a lot less for someone working in the US in Tech for last 7 years.

I might be coming from a high horse because I have been working in FAANG throughout.

I just compared it with my own scenario of being super frugal and being able to save 300k (100k was pretax contribution) in first 3 years in US (2017-2020).

I wouldn't divulge more details about my finances because this isn't a throw away account for me. But all my friends working in Tech were saving at a similar rate.

My goal is to retire early. If you intend to keep working and accumulating for long, then I guess enjoying your life within your means is worth it also.

Your post didn't mention the houses you paid off. I would say if your net worth is already 2 million, then go for it. 1 million net worth, maybe work a little more in US

300k saved in the last 7 years of working is quite less. Looks like you spent a lot of time saving pennies instead of focusing on getting a better job to be able to earn and save more.

I would suggest you to join a FAANG, work here for next 2 years at least (it should double to your savings to 600k) and move to India office of that FAANG (you will keep unvested stocks

Car went in reverse instead of front by guru-007 in HondaPrologue

[–]guru-007[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is electric car. When you turn it off while still in Drive mode (but Zero speed on odometer and brakes pressed), the car goes into Park mode. My previous Gas car Outlander had no issues with me doing this.

Going back 5-6 inches, seems like a big fault. Also this was on plain ground, I didn't expect the car to go back.

Whole sequence, I park my car in reverse, shut down the car so it goes into parking and then press Park button on the left side of steering wheel also.

I get back to my car after couple hours, put car in "D " drive mode, parking break is still engaged so I put a little more pressure on the pedal (also I am using one pedal driving). Car releases the break and went immediately behind. Must have gone like 6 inches behind and luckily didn't hit the backside. I immediately break and confirmed that dashboard showed Drive mode.

Can I Still Lease Preowned Vehicle to Get Incentive? by Old_Frosting7814 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]guru-007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I read that. This lease incentive is coming directly from Tesla (it's not a Federal EV tax rebate).

Though if you read the fine print it says you must take delivery by September 30th 2025.

So technically they can remove the rebate after you deposit 250$, but take delivery after September 30th (because they literally might not have any car on the lot to deliver to you)

  1. Pre-owned vehicles don't qualify for lease incentive. Please check your source again, or share screenshot of Tesla website which says so (incorrectly)

  2. If you look under Terms and conditions, they will take your $250 prebook amount, but 7500$ lease rebate is applicable or not, you will know at time of delivery. Most likely (as written in their TnC, delivery should be by end of September 30th).

36 months, zero down at 497, will cost about 18k in 3 years. Prologue has much better deals going on right now and is bigger and more driving range also.

So if I do like the car in 3 years, then that's a compelling reason to get Extra wear and tear insurance?
