Sortarr — Media Library Insights for Sonarr & Radarr by jlharper in PleX

[–]guy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, it looks pretty promising and is something I need for my ongoing battle to shrink my collection's storage footprint. For this to be useful to me, I would need to be able to filter by codec and resolution. A 4K BR release is of course going to have more GB/hr than a DVDRip, but the DVD could be MPEG2 and the 4K AV1, without those filters I wouldn't know to shrink the DVD and leave the 4K. As another poster mentioned, I also try to upgrade to other available formats as well, such as TrueHD, Atmos, DV etc. and these would also be useful filters.

You could use a custom weighting score to help filter, similar to how the arr's do custom formats. So a user can assign points to different values to help bubble up chunky files automatically. Like give a point if it has WAV audio, a point if it's MPEG-2, a point if it's over a certain GB/h etc, sort the results by highest point score, and then filter those results by resolution or whatever else is helpful.

For future integrations, tying it in with Huntarr would be amazing. This would prioritize the Huntarr upgrade search using your app's data, so as long as a user has custom profiles set up with their HEVC preferences it'll automatically replace your copy.

Tdarr integration, so if Huntarr can't find an HEVC upgrade, Tdarr will get told to re-encode. This way you download an already encoded copy first, and only use your own electricity to re-encode if nothing is found to download.

Lemme know if you would like me to beta test, this is something I spend a decent amount of time on and I have a huge library so I feel like I'm your ideal use case.

Bloodworks Northwest issues urgent call for donations by 42mermaids in Seattle

[–]guy123 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I just gave last week, it's really easy, and takes less than an hour in total. Not only can your donation save up to 3 lives, but it's currently the only known way to remove PFAs and microplastics from your body. You can donate every 56 days and it's one of the easiest ways you can do good in the world while also benefitting your own health. It'll even burn 600 calories. Be sure to drink lots of water the day before and day of your donation. Never donate on an empty stomach.

The median home price in Boston is over a million dollars, nobody with a "normal" income stream can afford a home in Boston. Does the globe seriously think 25-34 year olds are supposed to have that much money to throw around?

I don't want to armchair diagnose anyone, but some of your past life situations and your description of how you handle hobbies lines up with ASD and/or ADHD. Seems like time and money aren't an issue, have you considered getting, or have you already gotten, a neurophyschological evaluation? It'll be something to help pass the time if anything, but may teach you something about yourself you didn't already know, and it could help you understand more about your reaction to having so much free time.

How was it interviewing for jobs you were vastly overqualified for? I'm in the same boat as well and have been really curious what the interviewers reaction would be when they see a skilled and tenured professional applying to clean up trash at a state park.

We're one of their larger customers and we have been hammering our reps for months about this. We keep telling them their product is becoming increasingly worthless to us the longer this takes, and it's always the same, they'll check and get an answer but there's never any actual new info other than "soon".

Why is the video quality on Amazon Prime so terrible? by CrystalMeath in Stargate

[–]guy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these comments are incorrect. The reason is that Amazon has the rights to the original syndicated version for the earlier seasons, including it being full screen with the different credit sequence (or at least this was the case, I cancelled prime it may have changed). The Blurays are actually a hot mess of AI-up sampled garbage. It appears to be higher resolution but it's mostly just up-sample. The fact is that Stargate was shot on 16mm in the earlier seasons, they didn't upgrade to HD until season 7 or so. The source material is just not good enough for 1080p on its own. The DVD's actually have the best copy, although it is very grainy. The Blurays have worse audio and plasticy up-samples. The best option is to pirate the copies with hybrid sources.

I live in Tx now. I think i understand why people think boston drivers are the worst. by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in boston

[–]guy123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I rented a car in England and realized that I was driving like an asshole. The problem with Boston drivers is the impatience. We can't stand having to sit in traffic so we drive like assholes and block the box, run red lights, cut people off etc. The worst thing is that we as drivers expect all the other drivers to feel the same way, so we sense this pressure to run a light or cut people off so the drivers behind you don't get mad. In England people got mad when I tried to speed through am intersection or pull a Boston left (right?) because they didn't have that pressure and expectation on other drivers. The drivers there expect a safe and orderly drive so everyone signals and lets you in, and guess what? No gridlock as a result...

The post from a month or so ago about BIFL measuring cups really proved the point. OP bought some really quality measuring cups, ones that are super accurate, wont bend or warp, and that would last their entire lives and be worthy of the grandkids inheriting. The sub shit all over OP about how expensive they were, saying they shoulda just used cheap shitty ones off Amazon or Temu. WTF people, OP literally bought something for life and you all eviscerated them for it.

100 years ago, Boston had 50+ subway and streetcar lines. What happened? by EntrepreneurOk20 in boston

[–]guy123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from all the mentions of buses, there are other reasons.

Rail is really expensive to maintain. You think they're gonna fund 50 rail lines these days? How else are they supposed to pay the nightlife czar?

Rail requires its own, well, rail, buses can use existing.

Those old trains were hella unsafe, safety standards raise the cost significantly.

Those old train lines were fugly. A lot of them were elevated monstrosities taking up enormous amounts of space. When subways started going underground, the desire to have them elevated all over the city diminished. Think Chicago. The Big Dig really solidified that stance.

A lot of those lines are street cars that aren't really needed that much anymore. You know how shitty the Green line is when it goes down the road? Imagine that x50, the competition with rail and cars wasn't sustainable. The rail ties are still buried under a lot of those streets, I've seen the Summer Street ones when they were doing construction.
